I'm close friends with Jon, Jackass....I know he receives full pension from the Military...trust me, Einstein....the money he makes from promoting shows is MUCH more than his pension...the money he makes on the USA alone is substancial...

Oh, and BTW...thanks for the history lesson, it was completely irrelevant and has nothing to do with the subject at hand....

Lete see what you just said;

Jon Lindsay.

Jon makes quite a nice living as a promoter. He has no other job, it's his sole source of income.

Hmmmm, it looks like you said he had  He has no other job, it's his sole source of income.

Is that not what you said???????

So what is it, Jon has NO OTHER SOURCE of income, or you know he has a military pension- a SOURCE OF INCOME.

Face it, i just spanked you, and you know it.

And NO, he does not make $$$ off of promoting NPC BBing shows.

The only person making any $$ in the NPC is the head crook Manion.

I dont know what "substantial" is to you, but I have a good idea it is something different to everyone else in America.

Paul Graham in Sydney seems to do well with his shows. He gets some sponsors and then pockets the profits. However, I am not claiming I know what he makes, etc.

Chick would never fess up that he was taken to the woodshed for a lesson. It happens regularly here on Getbig but he and Goodrum are oblivious that it does.

Yes, it appears that way.  ::)

Full pension is 50% of their base pay..if you think that amounts to anything of a substancial income..I've got news for you....

now you're back peddling...now your claiming he makes NO manoey off promoting NPC shows??

Keep talking, Jackass...just making a bigger ass of yourself.

I find it rather offensive than an officially appointed IFBB rep would be so crass and vulgar online. I know Bob was chosen for his lack of shame but he is unaware that his obliviousness is valuable to them, too. Bottom line is only a stooge or a patsy would volunteer to do a rep's job.

Depends on what his rank was.  I will tell you right now Generals and even Colonel make a very very good income and pension.  I thought John dabbled in Real Estate, maybe not.  I would think he makes a pretty penny from the USA's.  He hold it in a place and doesn't use there A/C to save on paying for that.  Rental can't be that much.  Trophy cost is pretty big though.  I am sure he make good money doing that show.  I guess you have to consider what making a good living is.  I would hope most would consider at least $5,000 a month an okay living but far from substantial.  As a single person living alone that might be okay but still far from comfortable.  I think a single person making at least $100,000 a year is doing well.  Again depends on how he lives.  I personally have lived a very good life on making just $100 a week.  I know how to stretch the dollar.  Plus I steal all my food and sleep in my Range Rover so I save on rent and utilities.  It's how you spend your money that counts.   ;D

Depends if he was enlisted or officer.

My friend who retired as an E8 with 22 years makes about $1600 a month.  Thats not all that very exciting.

If he was an officer....with 20 years....maybe the average retired as an O4 or O5 with 20....that would be another $600-800 per month on top of what I previously stated.

Definitely the word 'retire' & the military doesn't mean you can fully retire.  Everyone I know that retires goes out & gets a job.  Unless, the move to PI, Japan, somewhere in the southern states or the desert.

Exactly.  People don't quit working after leaving the military.

Mr. Lindsay has also told me in conversation that contest promotion is his primary source of income.

Johnny Vegas - why do you think he would lie about such a thing?  What would be his motivation?

Nevertheless, he is a unique example.  The vast majority of NPC promoters have 'regular' jobs or careers just like the rest of us.

Now, we have the NPC supposedly saying they will ban or suspend anyone who enters this show. If this is so then why havn't they put anything in writing?? They put out an announcment for the IFBB, but there was no mention for the NPC members specifically being suspended??

The NPC does not tell any of its members where they can or cannot compete.  The participation rules which govern members of the IFBB do NOT apply to the NPC.

At its discretion, the NPC may, however, bar anyone from its competitions who is known to have competed for cash or prizes valued over a certain amount (I do not have the exact number, but can get it for you).

Note: IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER THE INDIVIDUAL WON OR NOT - simply competing for cash or large prizes is enough to compromise one's eligibility in the way 'amateur' is defined by the NPC.

Most promoters in the NPC do have "another day job" and promote for their enjoyment of bodybuilding and a few extra $$. Jon Lindsay is in a hot spot for bodybuilding being in Southern Cal.
He does an avg of 10-12 shows per year. I am going to be conservative and say he makes over a 30k profit on just the USA. After his sanction fee to the NPC, judges fees , awards and theatre rental, I would say based on a typical turn out he may have aprox 400-500 of the TOTAL night show ticket sales at an avg of 75 each. The rest of ticket sales , sponsers and entry fees help pay the show overhead.
If he makes an avg of 3 k profit avg for the next 11 shows he gets over 30k for that. His net profit is at least 60k a year minimum. I suspect he may  make more on good years???
Howard
I am being conservative here in my estimate and
Kelly Ryan married well!  Free Titus!

I'm sure any possible suspensions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

If, theoretically, 10,000 NPC current members were to compete in Ben's show, I doubt that we'd see 10,000 suspensions.  IT'S POSSIBLE, though, and the NPC reserves the right to do so, but I don't think it would be a wise business decision to suspend that many competitors.

If, however, only 10 current NPC members compete, then it'll be much easier for the NPC to say "You're all suspended from NPC competition until August 2009" and I don't think you'd see too many complaints about that.
