2009 Muscle Beach Classic
« on: April 08, 2008, 12:44:12 PM »
Let's say they decided to have the Muscle Beach Classic in 2009.  You choose the spot, it'd be near the Mecca in a time of year where it's beautiful weather and plenty of beautiful people.

They set up a stage (a tractor-trailer set would be more than adequate.)
They set up 200 chairs in the sand.
They set up free refreshments, expo booths, events, strongman competitions, all that.

During they day they have all sorts of competitions in the big area, then they set up chairs at night for the posedown.
Then they have a big beach after-party right there and at nearby clubs.  Volleyball, shots, you name it.  Maybe even some sort of music entertainment sprinkled throughout the day.

Imagine how many nostalgic people, beatnik beachgoers, party people, and regular fans would show up for such an event.  Instead of crowding into a high school auditorium, it's held on one of the most memorable and beautiful places in american and bodybuilding history.

Somebody, put on this show in 2009.

Same idea I have, but I think it should be on the east coast and closer to me ;D

Maybe the Atlantic City Pro could be a few weeks/months earlier and outside.

They have three a year on Muscle Beach in Venice. On Memorial Day, on the 4th of July, and on Labor Day.

BOYCOTT MUSCLE BEACH, they let go Bill Howard for no apparent reason after 40 years of dedicated service. Bill trains at my gym and to say he is devistated by this would be an understatement.......... ..Bill made that event into what it is today and what it has been for the last 40 or years >:(

Joe Wheatly runs the three shows. They are located at the famed Muscle Beach where the actual workout equipment is. Literally right on the Venice boardwalk, and the beach.

Here are some pics from last years Labor Day event...
