Judging contests is a difficult process if the competition is close. However, when comparing two competitors if one has a complete physique and the other has a torn muscle the contest is over. No point saying the guy with the torn biceps looks better in some poses. So what, he hasn't got a complete physique. Too many guys win with missing parts. Ronnie had weak calves and Dorian had a hole in his biceps. I have torn a biceps so I sympathize with him. However, that is no excuse and he shouldn't have been placed in the top 3.

I'm not a Ronnie or Dorian guy, but Vince just said basically the reason why he DOESN'T judge contests. You DON'T mark someone down as much as Vince is suggesting, simply because they have a torn muscle. Dorian still had half the bicep there, so he does get points marked down on symmtetry, as anyone would who has a muscle which is doesnt match up to the same muscle on the other side of the body. To suggest he should be 3rd is ludacris. If you judge by that logic, then put Jay 3rd, as his biceps are very umsymmetrical.

I don't think there has ever been a complete physique - was yours?

You should judge what you can see, so how much of a torn biceps can be seen in a rear lat spread?

It's also pointless to judge from photos taken from an angle during the compulsories. Perspective plays havoc and rarely are the athletes holding the pose at the same time.

Saying that Ronnie shouldn't have won all those Sandows because he had weak calves is possibly the most stupid statement I've heard in relation to bodybuilding.

Nasser's back was much more of a liability than having one bicep shorter than the other , couple that with less than stellar conditioning and suspect aftermarket oil enhancements and its a no brainer .
