I finally got a rice cooker.

how do I use it?

1 cup dry rice + how much water, for how long?

Also how long can you keep it on 'warm' without it getting mushy or stale?  thanks!

Just put in the rice and fill the water till it is about 1" over the rice.  Put in whatever amount of rice you want, just always put in enough water to go 1" over the rice.  It will come out perfect.

put twice the water depth of the rice on high.

The two cups water to one of rice isn't quite the same, put twice the depth of the rice.  perfect...  That's the way the chinese do it and it comes out just right.

was boiling rice too inconvenient?

plus, doesn't the thing have instructions?
rice cookers work better, I don't know why.

They work better cause the heat is all around the pot not just the bottom like cooking it in a pot.  Like I said there is no reason to measure.  Just put 1" of water above the rice line no matter how much rice you use.  Also, use chicken broth instead of water.  It gives the rice a better taste.  Cook some chicken and chop it up.  after about 10 minutes cooking the rice add the chicken and let it finish cooking.  Is great.  if you use brown rice you have to add a little more liquid.

As onlyme has said, measurement is unnecessary.  You can just eyeball it.  2cm-an inch above the rice level is fine.

There is no way anybody who has a rice cooker would not admit that it is much easier than cooking it in a pot.

I do believe you have used the incorrect usage of the word "your" under your avatar.

Hope this helps.

I suspect if you think about it for a moment, you might come to the conclusion that perhaps it is a little too overt to be genuine.

(Though, credit where credit is due, Candizzle has used such commentary on several occasions).
