If you're a NPC athlete and wish to continue competing as an amateur..I would highly suggest not competing for prize monies offered in ANY non-NPC sanctioned competition...

I agree.

The other problem, and many of you may not like it, is that the NPC USA is the largest bodybuilding show in the Western United States, and you chose to put your show on the same weekend, in the same area. Come on now. And offer prize money to amatuers, trying to take some of the luster away. Jon Lindsay, the promoter of the show, is a friend, and has been for a long time.

This will be my 12th NPC USA show that I am attending. Thus, choosing not to cover nor promote your show, unfortunately, is too bad.  It seems that you chose the exact same weekend to take some athletes, otherwise, any other weekend seemed ok.

I wish you well with your show, but it does seem suspicious to me.

Will you be there Bob or do they have someone else taking names of all those who compete

That was funny. Some of us will be shooting video and pictures on Sunday, after lots of pictures from the NPC USA!

In the beginning everything was different and that was the reason we choose the Sunday after the USA,since all Athletes were in town anyway, the NPC flipped in January on us,from September till January everything was fine according to the NPC.

I don't want to rehash this again Ben...but It was never OK with the NPC....whoever you were talking to was in no position to make any statements on behalf of the NPC, or Manion....basically, they were blowing smoke, or trying to make thmselves out to be something they weren't.

why is this a problem?  No athlete will drop out of the USAs to enter the B&A.  No fan who was going to go to Vegas to see the NPC will now go all the way to Vegas to see the B&A instead.  Just the opposite is more likely.  Someone who was not planning on attending might now go to catch both shows.

They cant.  But then, why be surprised when many of us are not happy when someone puts on a show trying to take away from the NPC USA, a show that had 400 competitors last year, one of my favorite show, in Las Vegas for the last 10+ years (I think).  As a promoter, would you be ok with that?

This is the NPC premier bodybuilding show. Simple as that.

Who cares what the NPC says is okay.  They think they own the way everybody should live in the BB industry.  The problem is the people who do make some sort of living from BB are such a select few and it is because they have nothing else to fall back on.  Why would anyone allow to be treated and told how to live their lives.  I just don't get it.  I would just hate to have to answer to an organization and do everything they tell me to do and not even get paid by them.  I mean f the IFBB was paying these guys it would be different.  But, the IFBB does not pay these guys and these guys still are like little puppies doing exactly what they are told.  Sorry I have way to much self pride and integrity.

They cant.  But then, why be surprised when many of us are not happy when someone puts on a show trying to take away from the NPC USA, a show that had 400 competitors last year, one of my favorite show, in Las Vegas for the last 10+ years (I think).  As a promoter, would you be ok with that?

Ron what drug are you taking.  You are sounding like Chic by typing before you think.  How is Ben putting on a show the day after the NPC show taking away from the NPC USA.  Please explain that brilliant statement.  Do you think guys who were going to do the USA's on Saturday are now not going to do them so they can compete on Sunday.  How is that logical.  Why not compete on Saturday and then on Sunday.  It is 24 hours after.  Please explain this Goodrumism you came up with

Great! No problem at all. Just B&A is trying to ride on the NPC USA. Not cool. Exactly.

Look, it doesnt matter what it is - or what event it is. If you have one event going on, and another event tries to mimic what you have, it isnt cool, especially the same weekend in the same city.  Do it on another weekend.  Hey, if you had your Tim Day at the Beverly Hills Park, put a lot of time into it, and then someone put another Tim Part 2 Day at the Beverly Hills South Park, I guess that is fine?

Same as if you had a show on a weekend in Hawaii, and then someone else put a similar show on the same weekend in the same town you did, it wouldnt be cool. I would of supported you in the same way. And it isnt 24 hours, it is less than 10 hours.

IFBB? This is a NPC show, a National show where people turn pro. Last year, it was July 27-28.  In 2006, it was July 28-29. In 2005, it was July 29-30.  This year, it is July 25-26. Same weekend, was the last weekend in July. Show date is posted years in advance. No change.

And guess what, the 2009 NPC USA will be on July 24-25. in Las Vegas again. Same place, same last weekend.

Sarcastic question.  NPC is for athletes, and promoters set up most of the contests, in the United States. If you wish to promote a show, please ask the local chairperson and get involved.  There is a lot involved.   Tim, come to a local show - there is the NPC California coming up, or on June 21st, the NPC Junior California, promoted by Lonnie Teper.

Well as a businessman it is a great decision.  His show is going to cost more than what Jon is spending on the USA's.  WHy invest that kind of money the first time out and try to depend on bringing competitors in.  It is a great decision on Ben's part.  Do your first show when there are already a bunch of competitors in town.  I don't see why the NPC cares so much.  Are they insecure, are they scared.  Why?  If anything Ben's show may be bringing in more competitors to the USA.  Didn't someone say this year has more competitors than ever before.  It that a coincidence.  Maybe guys are seeing the chance to enter two contests back to back.   I personally think that Ben's show is not affecting the USA show negatively at all.  I mean if if he really wanted to cause some shit, he would have put it on the same day don't you think.  Ben obviously has the sponsors and the money to pull this off so if he really wanted to be an asshole he would have put it on the same day.  The NPC should STFU and just do there thing and let others do theirs.

If the NPC and Manion had any kind of integrity they would have immediately told Bob not to say one thing on here about Ben's show.  But instead Chic has given Ben's show quite a bit of free publicity on here.  Whether good or bad more people know about his show than if Chic just didn't say a thing.  And Ron is your company sponsoring Ben's show.  If not why.  It is a bodybuilding show.  Or is it that you can't.

I haven't been to a so Cal NPC show in a few years.    Ticket prices got to be too expensive, and they kept harassing me about my camera.

Then come to Lonnie Teper's NPC Junior California in Pasadena on June 21st, or to the NPC California show.  As long as you dont bring a professional camera, it should be a problem. Bring your little camera.  I think the cost is $25 or so.  It isnt that much at all.

Actually, when that happens Ronald McDonald calls his underlings on GetFat.com and tells them to post unsavory things about BK in the hopes that alerting everyone on an international message board will affect discourage local business.

Which is exactly why you won't see this show around again. When your brother from anotha mutha, Shawn Ray, was giving away a H3 and going big with his show catering to the athletes you were all over him telling him how stupid he was. Now you're hugging this Ben's nuts like there is no tomorrow. You love to try and play both sides of the fence only trouble is you get caught trying to go back and forth.

Keith, at the Olympia a couple years ago you had a banner that said you're "a proud supporter of the NPC and IFBB". Since you have a gym opening up in Vegas and you care about the athletes will you be sponsoring both of these shows?

Awesome proxy battles going on here!   It's like PDI II.

I'd prefer to let 2 organizations put on their own show, wihout a single word, and let the athletes and fans decide.  IMO, going online to create a dialogue to scare competitors only further legitimizes the new entrant into the realm.  If McD put out 10,000 commercials about how the new "Happy Hamburger" chain sucks, people would say "Wow, maybe I should check out HH if McD is so concerned with them".

Hilarious dialogue though... some serious ass-kissing going on, and some serious proxy fighting.

Truthfully, the only thing people will really care about in Vegas this July is the 5th annual Muscle Mansion week, July 24-28.  This year, we'll have not one, but *two* gorgeous properties (they're next to one another) that will be filled from start-to-finish with some of the hottest, fit women on the planet.  A special thanks to our sponsors for making it possible.

Nobody tries to take away anything,if so it would be the same day and not 1 day later!
