That ain't nutten! I know a guy (gtreat bodybuilder BTW) who works a busy intersection with a long red light.

He cleans your windshield, sings your favorite song, offers a cup of coffee, and hits a bicep pose when the light turns green.

He says he stays on that corner until he pockets $100+ and then spends a couple of hours in the gym.

I asked him how long he spends at that intersection each day and he said the longest time ever was 3 hours during a slow Saturday morning.

And on good days he stays until he makes $200 due to repeat customers, but those good days never exceed three hours.

One customer gets his cup of coffee and his windows cleaned every morning, but now he wants a receipt; so he simply lets him drive on through.

I'll get his picture at his next contest. Better yet, I'll take a picture of his intersection operation on my next drive by.

Nah, teachers start at a decent level.  it's the slow income growth trend that sucks.  They pay you decent right out of college for the 8.5 months you actually work.

FL is one of the cheaper states, and teachers start in the 30k range.  Problem is, they peak out at 55k, after THIRTY years of work, which is insane.

No, Knny, not Vegas! They'd run him over there! One Las Vegas "bum" is like any other in that town.

This guy only works high class neighborhoods like Laguna Beach.

Knny, do you remember the OFFICIAL Greeter in Laguna Beach many years back. He had a long beard and always wore a classy red jacket. He was the town greeter on the side of Pacific Coast Hwy for many years, but as far as I know, he never accepted handouts.

Someone told me recently that he got hit by a truck while greeting it with a big smile on his face.

Any truth to that?

Don't know Laguna Beach

I lived in San Diego for years.  There used to be the same guy on I 5 exit for La Jolla Village Dr.  Everyday at red lights I used to watch 2-3 cars give this guy 2-3 bucks.  He used to stay there for 3-4 hours a day.  For some reason, if you offered him food or a jobe hye would say 'no'.

Yeah, Lori went back to school to get her teaching credentials. The cost of living here is rediculous. So when I say what I payed for my home people think I live in a mansion (like that moron Enthenator) here. You don't get much out here for what you pay as far as a home. BTW, the average price for gas is $3.77 and the gym that I run my business from just doubled my rent >:(

Seriously considering opening my own place!!

Wow... here in SW Florida, 6 months ago, everybody was hiring and they couldn't hire enough college kids to work places.  The tourism industry has choked and everything dried up almost instantly.  Food spiked in the last 2 months.  Rent dropped a lot though - 1 in every 80 homes is actually in foreclosure.

Might be off the subject here a bit but since I was a kid, I've always given whatever change I had in my pocket when someone less fortunate needed help.

When I was in high school, I had a job with the post office which was located in the meanest, worst part of San Francisco were every bum and drunk that showed some pride in being such a proficient bum, congregated there and pissed on every  sidewalk in that part of town. (Howard Street -South of Market - Now the home of million dollar apartments.)

I'd always save one of my peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches and give it to the first bum who approached as I got off the bus.

Then one day, this happened which made me change my modus operandi.

COACH ... Gas up here in No Cal is pass the $4 mark and will continue to rise until is slowly slows in the $5 area. This fact alone is gonna change the US/world economy as we know it. Family member has Chevron stock and is happy as shit. But that stock if you want to come out a winner. Should be splitten soon.

I had cashed my paycheck and stopped in McDonald's to get a Big Mac and a chocolate shake and saw a worn out bum standing on the near-by corner, so I ordered a Happy Meal to go in addition to my Big Mac with the intent of offering him his one and only meal that day.

I walked across the street to give it to him and he looked inside the bag and said, "What the fuck is this for?!"

I assumed I was that often heard about "stranger bearing gifts" and simply headed off.

On another occasion I was in New York City with my cousins who are Cirque du Soleil performers. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon and we were in Central Park and they threw their baseball caps on the lawn and started doing handstands and Cirque type acrobatic moves.

Without realizing it they had drawn a sizeable crowd and when they gathered their baseball caps, they realized that they were $300+ richer.

Knowing the Big Apple well, it was probably $600 but for that little kid with the Guido hat that appeared to be falling off his head.

Another fact that is kind of sad, but there used to be an armless and legless man asking for donations outside of Harrah's Hotel/Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. I only saw him once but I have been told that he was there often and was picked up by a chauffeured limo each evening.

Just another couple of examples on how to get rich if  you want or need that money bad enough even when you don't expect it.

I pay about $5.50 for a gallon of milk and $4.30 for gas in LA.

Why are giving away how Chic makes his real income. ;D  JK big Bob

But there was something on the news here a few years back where they had a hidden camera that followed this one guy who begged for money at the freeway on ramp.  He would make about $400 a day and then walk behind this wall and there was a new Jeep Cherokee he would get into and drive off.  They figured this guy made about $4000 to $5000 a month begging for money.

It's all good right now, she won't be able to apply for at least another year until she finishes the credential program.

my stepmother retired from the NYC school system making 88k/year.  Pension is based on the last year's salary too.  She's turning 60 next month and making more off her pension than I make at my job.  Not too shabby.

Is that for regular or premium? The $3.77 I mentioned was for regular and the premium was around $4.03.

240,

You do realise that most of Europe is paying $6 to $7 a gallon for gas right? And that's on top of lower wages and higher taxes... you whinging Americans make me sick.

They need it, though. They do not get social security and have to put in a minimum 35 years...contrast that with police or firefighters, who need only 20.

The true value is usage of time, and, unless you really love it, 35 years is a long bout of hard labor.
