Whats wrong with that quote? Why would anyone want to work out with a bunch of meatheads anyway?

I don't get it. If you think the place sucks and the rules are gay, then don't go there. Pretty simple.

I would call that a toss up. I personally like to train in the company of professional types. I don't need a bunch of jerkoffs training in muddy work boots and blue jeans or dudes in string tank tops and hands covered in chalk to "hype me up". But to each their own.

I still don't get why people on here make such a big deal out of it. I don't like mouses singing Elvis songs, so I don't go to Chuck E. Cheese. I certainly am not so upset about the place that I mock it on a messageboard.

thats why I spent 5K and started building my own gym at my house

its great---me and my boy lift after work-----no distractions...I seriously save an hour between driving, getting ready, bullshitting etc...

I do agree with you on the point of how annoying those douchebags are at the gym who are on a gram of test sporting blow-outs, horrible acne, drenched in cologne with their chests flared out like retarded roosters :-\ :-X :-X

I have not heard of a SINGLE Planet Fitness in So Cal.

I think if they tried to bring their business model to So Cal they would get smacked out of the gym/fitness business within 12-18 months.

That's the best way to work out imo. Blast the radio, save drive time like you said. I have a drop ceiling in my basement, like 6'6" I think, not feasible for me. The roiders are unbearable around here man. They strut around like they own the place, cuz the gym is the only place they feel important. I think they are usually poor for the most part, cuz they wear clothes from the 80's. I just prefer a more dignified atmosphere personally.

It's a trade off Danny. my girl actually signed me up for Planet Fitness Because she wants to get back into the gym, so she figured it would be nice for us to do it together. Nice sentiment, but it ain't happening. I walked in, took a look around, and said loud enough for the people around me to hear "you have GOT to be kidding me, this place is a JOKE" I told my girl sorry, but I simply cannot train there. It's not a real gym. I explained to her how the DB's only go to 60 lbs., there's virtually no free weights, the machine's suck horribly etc etc. I also told her not to take it personal, it's fine for her but a waste of my time. I explained that the people who run this place don't want me here as much as I don't want to be here.

She was totally cool about it.  Point is If you are serious about training and have halfway decent size and strength, you really have no choice but to put up with the occasional testo-douche at Gold's gym because it's an actual gym, which is a necessity.

That's the way to go.  I set up a fully equipped home gym a few years ago, and I love not having to deal with all the douchebags that inhabit commercial gyms.

No, they are two different gyms, same owners, but far different gyms and business models.

And if PF ever tried to turn WG's into a PF they would have no WG chain left-WG owners would all go "Fuck You PF" and just change their names.

PF and WG have polar opposite corporate cultures. But so far PF has not fucked up the WG business model, like those idiots who bought Gold's Gym did back in 2000 and promptly lost 20% of the chain (dont recall the exact date).

That makes perfect sense to me, fact of the matter is I am about half your size so the 75 pounders are sufficient, and the barbells you can obviously put whatever you want on(as long as you use a collar mind you! ;D). I just go to Ballys to deadlift every few weeks, cuz there is no possible way to DL at PF. Most of the things I say to defend PF is largely due to the fact that I got suckered into joining anyway, so I hype it up a bit on here for the fuck of it, but it seriously is not as bad as some people make it sound.

Good stuff. Then you don't need to ensure nobody is looking when you are performing your massive 135 pound bench presses.

Well your Planet Fitness is better than the one I went to.

The heaviest DB's were 60 lbs.

There were NO barbells. or weight trees.

The closest thing to that were 2 smith machines with maybe 400 lbs of free weights between the 2 of them. So if someone is using 175 on one.....well, you do the math.

Just couldn't deal

my World Gym turned into a Planet fitness when they first came out---needless to say I left immediately once they took all the heavy dumbells out

We have 3 benches, 3 inclines, and 3 declines with as much weight as you can put on an olympic bar, only thing that's missing is a DL platform. 3 Smith machines as well.

Don't you guys ever get embarrassed to be around the grunters and groaners? I mean would anyone honestly work out in a gym where there was a retard like that skinny Layne guy running around like jackass hooting and hollering? I would be laughing my ass off the whole time if I saw someone like that.

See now that isn't that bad, at least they are making an attempt. The one by me is a fucking joke, really.

Yeah that shit is stupid. i would "accidentally" trip him when he came running by me like a manic retard. ;D

I can only say in my gym, everyone is pretty much a normal person. Sure there are a few dicks, but that's anywhere you go where there are a lot of people. I'm lucky in that I'm big enough where I don't have to deal with 19 year old douchebags "peacocking". They tend to get out of my way.

I have to work up to 135...  right now I'm just benching the bar.  90lbs to go!   :D
