Author Topic: When does one "decides" to make a "career" out of the "fitness industry"?  (Read 4073 times)

I'm not bashing but rather seeking explanations and understanding. I see many 18-22 kids out there, straight out of High school or worse dropping out of college to start "studying" to become a personal trainer/model/things... ?

Is it sustainable? What do you do when you hit mid 40's? Do you still meet fat middle aged women and do it over and over? Is there real money getting "supplement contracts"? How many different ways can one use an "exercise ball"? Is there still "research" being done in that area to "discover" new "techniques" to lift a dumbell?

Bodybuilding for me has allways been a "hobby" and career allways comes first; weekend warrior; That's why all shows are on the weekends, apparently until 10 years ago, even Pros had real jobs...

  • "What you don't have is a career."

1) you realize that you're never going to earn a living as a competitor

or

2) you look around and realize that everyone else but you is making money

Personal training will always be a viable profession as long as there are fat out of shape slobs who want to get in shape, and there`s no shortage of fattys so far!!

Good trainers can make outstanding money.

The average, however, is about 25k.

Very bad, obviously.

what do you mean? he's saying they are two of the viable outcomes.. comically.. it has everything to do with the question, but if alex didn't want any elaboration he wouldn't have posted anything other than the thread title, while you're at it 'champ' i mean failed 'squad member' fuck off and die :D

i know a broskie who is my age, just started full time work as one, and pulls around 1500 AU a week, which isn't bad imo... bit more than 25k, but we have more fatties in Australia! maybe thats it?

well if you want to become a PT, you have to learn the mechanisms to lose fat yourself, first... or you're not going to teach them anything.

Thousands of trainers make at least that much.

training is pretty good money, but i feel like the real money is in managing a gym or health club, not your average little gym, but more like a ballys, L.A fitness, 24hour fitness,x-sport fitness ect..... those commercial gyms have such a large member base. most people that manage those type of gyms usually make 75k or more.

It's like any other business.

Some people do great, some don't. People have a hard time grasping this
