Some say he had weak competition and he never even broke top 6 at the Mr. O.

He has a legacy.  I thought all he got for bb was a colostomy.

He beat Flex Wheeler head to head and won the 1995 Arnold Classic.

How many other BBs can say that?  ;)

I think Flex was way overrated and he looked bad in 95 anyway, probably worst year except when he competed ?natural? in 2003.

Flex was no way near his best in 1995, he was completly off because he just had a car accident a year earlier.

Michael was not overrated.  He was good.  He could have won the Olympia had he not had his medical problems.

Francois was excellent but I wouldn't go as far to say he was a potential Mr Olympia.

his car accident was real, there was no way of returning to prime form because there wasn't enough time to recover. It was amazing he got 2nd in the Arnold in the first place

I don't think he had an Olympia winning [hysique but he may have been able to crack the top 6.  Mike was HUGE at his peak

By 1997, Mike had come into his own, his back was wider than probably Dorian and Jay today, and he had better detail, he was like what Newman was suppose to be.

I agree, he was good enough to just barely win the Ironman, barely edging Aaron Baker. He placed second, as mere shadow of his 1993 form, and even then, it was a toss up.  Lee Haney said he had Flexwinning, he said mike was "too Blocky"

good point...

Mike's upper abs were always smooth...especially in front double bicep or lat spread poses

(cue some numbnut who posts one pic where Mike's upper abs look good and asks me, "what the hell are you talking about")

Actually I think Haney said Francios was just ' too lumpy '

Could be, it was in Flex Magazine's coverage of the 1995 Arnold, should be their May issue. I think they always run their Arnold issue in May.

Nonsense - Francois was around in the mid-nineties and no matter ho wgood he would have got he would never have beat Dorian. Then Ronnie came along and he wouldn't have had a hope in hell of beating him either. So when do you think Francois would have won the Olympia?

At least Cutler has always been vying for the top places whenever he entered the Olympia - Francois never came close, even at his best.

Mike was very good, but the competition was much too important in those days (DORIAN)

Munzer is one of the few bodybuilder who looks 10 times better when standing next to someone

alone he doesn't look like a top pro

Wasn't 1995 the year Munzer died?

Anyway, Mike Francois and Dennis Newman (both competed at the same era) would have done great in the pro ranks....wtf most of the guys of that era stopped competing due to medical problems.  :-\
