I never know what the hell is going on in these things.  Like was Akira a good guy or a bad guy?  And why did that guy in Akira walk into a bar and order 3 peanuts?  Weird.

Space Cruiser Yamato is more on my intellectual level.  You know they're the good guys.  They get into trouble.  They fire the big gun and everyone is saved.  See, I can follow that.

Look,The reason why those mangas are so popular is that they are realistic. There is no good guy or bad guy. Every people has their reason to do something. That makes story more profund.
