Hey, HH6...just curious.
How good are the Iranian special forces? I haven't heard anything for or against, militarily speaking.(training, weapons, experience, etc.)
I know you have read his book and you gotta admit whether you like him or not...I'm glad Richard Marcinko was on our side. LOL
Wow alot of good stuff. First off the Quds force question. I asked around about 6 monts ago after we were briefed about Iran and their games down south. They're aren't SEALS or CAG (Delta) but they have some experience in Beruit so they're not bad. Its all a matter of experience. They are trying to run things in Basra, sort of like our SOF guys would do. They got their asses handed to them a few weeks ago...so i will let u make the call.
Its funny when one of these threads goes on for long...we get the soldiers are stupid thing eventually..or the brainwashed thing.
With that being said VERY FEW soldiers have a far reaching objective grasp on foreign policy. I'm not harping on you but my example illustrates my point. You've never heard of Smedley Butler nor his book War is a RacketI was a Marine so i got hit over the head with Smedley Butler...yeah he was a war hero. The very few part...dude u need to stop talking to E-3's I guess, even some of them would surprise u. I work with highly educated people all the time. And while I hate to say it, I'm pretty sure I could figure out what most of u guys do, but what we do, to plan a battle or even a simple patrol would blow ur mind. Its beyond anything u can imagine and mostly pretty damm boring.
I happen to be in a unique postion right now where I work for the organization that planned the "Surge". My job is to help train those preping for deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan. Because of that I get to see the latest intel etc from those countries. I get classified briefs, alot of the time illustrating Iranian involvement in Iraq, because its a problem. Do i buy eveything Uncle Sam says and does....hell no. But with all the bashing of the US that goes on here, I'm never, ever ever going to aire our dirty laundry. I'm not going to complain about the VA or Haliburton, why would I give the Left fodder to continue to bash this government. If we were all sitting around I'm sure things would not get as heated, and we could explain our postions better, but will continue to defend what we're doing in Iraq, regardless of the reasons for war. We have troops in the field, and they need to be backed.
