I heard from a source who is half reliable that Mike used to do his share of partying too but I have no idea if that is the case or not.

Hey Mike remember this guy back in the day?

Chuck Re?

I think he is like 19 here, and he later on got up to about 360 pounds offseason at about 6'2" and he was an absolute beast. I remember looking over at the Golds Gym Classic (Farnsworth won the lightweights, Quadzilla Demayo guest posed--I still have the VHS tape-LOL) and seeing Re in the audience taking up two seats and thinking "what the.....?"  Heck we were probably sitting next to each other Mike and didnt know it.

Demayo, mattarazzo, Author Prince, Chuck Re.....alot of beasts came out of our state Mike (nevermind Terra, Cutler, Jeff King etc etc)

I seen him here when he competed in the first Toronto pro show. He worked the crowd up hard and his arms were unbleievable.

I remember walking out of the Palace (didnt you used to bounce there Mike) and seeing the car of a girl Debbie I used to date (she had tinted windows)--she hits the driver side window and says "hey Dante!"....I squat down and say hi and there is Mattarazzo in the passenger seat. For some reason he was in a bad mood and says some shit to me, I said something right back and it was on....he gets out of the passenger side and I walk around the front of the car and we square up. Bouncers break it up with him and me yelling at each other. Would of been a very hardcore scrap because I know he can throw.....but luckily for me that never happened as the rumor was he used to "collect funds" for the Angiulo family (I know you know that name Mike) back in the day. And I sure as hell didnt want to piss off the Angiulo's in any way shape or form. I would end up in that river in back of the Palace with all those other guys they found there--LOL.

Yes I remember Cantone--didnt he get his pro card or place really high one year (2nd?)

One of the best things Ive ever seen in bodybuilding was I believe the Golds Gym Classic that the Grossi's put on. It was held in a opera house or orchestra building. The guest poser was Lee Haney. Haney was massive, full offseason and I believe they announced him at 283lbs and he wasnt soft.

The announcer comes out with "AND YOUR REIGNING MR OLYMPIA LEE HANEY!!!!" and a red light shines on center stage and the curtain opens......no Haney.

then a blue spotlight goes on and it shines way up on one of those Opera house side boxes about 75 feet in the air....and there is Haney standing there in the Sergio Victory pose......the crowd went absolutely bonkers.

Steve won his class at the North Americans (and got a feature article in Flex magazine on leg training)
lotta funny stories (one year at the New Englands we had to push/jump start Mike Katz's piece of shit car)
brought Vic Richards to the Palace (was in a sleveless shirt/freaked people out)
both Matarazzo and Demayo used to hang out at the palace (as did most everyone back then lol!!)
good times!
