they would only "shoot him" from the neck up (not that it should matter how small he is...after what he's been thru)

i know Mike being "big and freaky" was everything to him........

I'm surprised nobody brought this up sooner since it was a very good interview by Ron Harris.

Mike simultaneously blames steroids for his health problems while claiming he only used 1,000-1,5000 mg of testosterone per week plus other drugs like GH and cutting agents.  I don't have the magazine with me right now, but that is more or less what he said.

I think if he wanted to use his experiences as a cautionary tale he should went into a little more detail both about his dosages and his food intake.  But primarily I would think he lied about the dosages he used.

Also I like how on mayhem replies like this will immediately get shutdown with people claiming that "it's genetic" despite Mike himself stating that is not the case.  ;D

Reality for bbing is such a letdown after seeing most as such freaks,it is the ultimate illusion.the ones that escape from being sick at least have a chance at keeping some of the look of there old selves.

mike bragged for years about eating 5 pounds of beef per day.

I'd guess that kind of extreme fat intake had a lot more to do with his heart problems than steroids.

We always hear of 'genetic' heart problems, coincidentally from the guys who had the highest blood pressure and ate the most gluttonous.  We always hear of 'genetic' kidney problems from the same guys who most abuse diuretics (even after being told by docs to stop).

I guess it looks better for donations or insurance reasons not to blame self-induced abuse for the ailment.

he actually said :
my cycles were usually around 1,000-1,500 milligrams (all the injectables together) a week during the offseason a bit more pre-contest plus GH and then id cut drugs and the diuretics at the very end"

i find/found Mike to be very open and honest about what he "used"

That's it.  Thanks for posting the actual quote, Mike.

Still seems a little low.  Are steroids and bodybuilding drugs really so dangerous that the above would cause such massive heart problems at such a young age?  That is something that would really deter me from using, but I don't imagine it is really the case.

Also, to say something positive, my grandfather has 20-25% of his heart function after a massive heart attack he had in 1990.  At the time he was given two years to live and is actually still alive and healthy.

I like when people say certain bodybuilders "look healthy" which pretty much just means they aren't dead.  ;D  Anyway, my point is that if my grandfather could make it 18 years in the same state, it's possible Mike can as well, or possibly even longer.

He's one of the only Pro's who admitted that juice was the reason for his heart problems unlike all the other pros who blame their kidney failures and heart attacks on hereditary conditions. I give him props.

Don't you think he might lie to make himself look better?

Do you honestly believe what he said?

I hope not.

If Mike manages to stay alive for the next 10 - 20 years, the progress of technology will offer a solution for him that will enable him to live several decades into the future.

And moreover, if the health problems from other bodybuilders were indeed hereditary, that is all the reason why they should never have partaken in the bodybuilding lifestyle to begin with.

That kind of stuff can happen to anyone. My neighbour is only 37 and she suffered 3 heart attacks and had a triple by pass done as well as one in her leg. I do realize that a lot of poor health is self induced by idiots that cannot take care of themselves but a lot of people can get sick without there being a reason.
