does anyone here still incorporate T bar rows. they seem to really hit the entire back. i love that exercise

T-bars, and to a lessor extent barbell rows, is IMO the best overall Back Builder.

18 sets

This is a good number. The back is comprised of 10-12 different muscles, so it is much more complex than say the chest (pec major, pec minor), legs (6 major muscles),  calves (2 major muscles), biceps (3 major muscles), delts (one muscle-3 heads).

18- 20-22 sets is a must to really hit everything in the back.

five sets X five exercises. No deadlifts, I'm an old guy with bad back.

I usually do 5 exercises, but only average 4 sets per exercise........

back doesnt take so long maybe 1-1,5 hour? i rest 90 seconds between sets

I am done in 40 minutes........very short rest times....

Volume in the key for bodybuilding (training).

I agree with that.  Of course you'll always have a dorian who can do 6 sets and inject a gallon of insulin and grow.  But for most people, high number of sets seem to work best.

You've got be pretty naive to think he actually built that back training HIT.

Dorian used a **modified*** HIT system, which was 6-8 sets total. Could easily work.

If you recall Mike Mentzer's HIT was ONE SET per body part 3x a week, 30 minutes each work out. That is the stupidest shit I ever heard-but 8 sets is doable in HIT.

i never advocated hit

dorian never trained hit

hit is mentzer one set per body part which is bullshit

10 to 12 sets per bodypart is plenty if you lift hard

yeah 10-12 is definitely enough if you're training hard enough.

no

say you use 5x5 protocol and do 4 exercises for back thats 20 sets

maybe you wanna throw some back extensions in there. that's another 3 sets.

stop training like pussies ! "oh its enouigh oh its enough"

it's never enough !
NEVER

NEVER EVER

I just say do two width exercises and two rowing movments. The sets and reps matter on what type of training you prefer.

But generally I think 10-12 sets is enough.

ahahahaha

This is how I do it in Timesquare. I use wrist wraps and a weight belt. Always the same exercises but always different order. Twice every ten days?

3-4X jackhammer rows. (bent rows with dumbells) Then 1X one arm row with the 150# each side.
6X deadlifts
6X bent rows
6X close grip Ronnie rows in the corner
4-5x hyperextensions with no weight
always the finale is pull ups. as many as I can do. as many sets until I call it a day. Like 3 or 4 sets?

So I guess the answer to the question is around 25 sets.

sounds good to me

i bet the back begs for mercy after that one !!!

MIGHTY BACK !!!!

MIGHTY BACK !!!

you are not training hard enough

if you need to do 27 sets

i would be suprised if you have done 27 sets total in your whole life

hahaha agree totally, those doing high sets are cruising thru most of em. Moderate sets with high intensity, lower sets with insane instensity or coast doing high volume.
