Now don't get me wrong.  Once again I am not a supporter of Islam.  But my opinion on your question is that as far as I know there is no other religion for comparison.  When was the last time the US and West declared war on another religion, occupying 2 countries and sword rattling with a third and major Islamic nation, Iran.  There are no others where you can line up and compare.  I suppose we could do a what if.  Let's Imagine if the United States and GB were occupied.  The occupying force claiming to be at war with the radical elements of Christianity.  Now they're going after another major Christian Nation.  Would we see a rise in membership of groups indending on fighting back against this force?  Most probably we would not sit on our ass.  Again, I do not have all the answers, I never said I did.  I'm just one person with an opinion, NOT Mr. Always Right.

I believe they're still up but I don't think the war is reason to discount the attacks.  We were calulating them into the senerio because of the possible war, before the war.  So it's a little odd to hear that they don't count on the "main front" now. 

I too am happy to admit if I'm wrong and will do so when proven.  I truely believe I'm after truth and have no desire to persue a point on "team menatlity."  If in the end I'm wrong, you can call me on it and i'll admit.  We all bust some time or another.

I think I am in the middle here. I oppose all religion, especially Islam and I DO think Islamic theology has much to do with giving motivation to Islamic terrorism, however, I also believe that US foreign policy exacerbates the problem manifold; I think these 13th century medievalists should be left to rot in their barren deserts and the West should look after itself without interfering with the affairs of these countries; of course that means that the US needs to stop being the world's policeman/bully and start minding its own business.

In Europe it is a slightly different issue. Secular/Enlightenment values were hard fought for and need to be maintained at all costs; immgration must be radically restricted and those who refuse to integrate and accept Enlightenment values can be sent off to their respective countries; once in those countries, said people (Islamists most likely) should be left to rot.
