Is 140 pounds too light for 5'10" tall? What would a good weight be?

Good weight for what? You need to to take into account goals, frame size, etc.....

In general, for a natural BB, I'd consider 175-200 pounds a good lean contest weight depending on frame size. Add 15-30 pounds in the off season.

For the strength sports, I'd consider the 100kg or 220-230lbs, a good class for a 5'10, decently lean man.

Just some thoughts base on observation, but there really aren't any really hard and fast rules for these things. Go by strength levels and the mirror. If you're strong and look good, be happy.

I'm 5'10 (and a half I think) and I weigh 240. Not fat with it either so 140lbs at that height in my opinion is way too light. I would say anything over 190lbs lean would look fine.

I would say your underweight. if you looked at a weight to height scale. a typical guy that stands 5"10 should be around 160-170. but that not taken in account of how your body is made of in fats/ muscles. If you a  lean 140 in condition. then that the best weight for you. if your trying to gain weight i.e. bulking, then you have room to grow.

i'd say 140 is ok for 5'6-5'8, but for 5'10, i'd suggest about 160-175lbs.  do you have a pic bro?! are you just looking to size up, fill out, etc?!

Depends on body type and bone thickness. Seen some super lightweight boxers (and college wrestlers) at 5"10 and around 140 who look pretty good. If a southeastern Asian or East Indian decent, than that may be the natural fit weight for you. Oscar De La Hoya is around 5'10-5"11 and when 135, had that lean muscular look. If you feel good and strong at that 140, than so be it. Might also be surprised how many Olympic lifters, in the lighter divisions, (height around 5'9-5'10) appear somewhat lean but muscular. These same guy's lift huge weight overhead in ratio to that lower division bwt.

The American weight standard is higher that most country's. Insurance weight charts suggest 150-155 (if memory serves) for a medium boned male at 5'10.  Actually most American kids today are just plan fat. Gluttony, and not doing any type of physical activity, seems to be the rule with their parents also. There are over 300 million people here in the U.S. and most of them are way too fat. Good Luck.

You would think De La Hoya had 24" pile driving arms after he gives you a liver shot and a quick overhand right. Total time....3 seconds. Loser....GEO.   Rest in peace and Good Luck.

at 5'10" once you start getting over 210lbs (muscular) you will start looking larger than avg...140 at 5'10" is disgusting

if you really want to pack on weight you gotta work your legs...you can weigh a good 30 lbs more than you look when you pack on some leg mass

Just go for a "look" rather than a "weight".  Use the mirror instead of what a scale tells you.

I'm 175 at that height and people compliment my development; not too big IMO but it works.  Keep a clean diet, lift moderate to heavy and keep some cardio...you should do fine.  You'll likely hit a growth spurt of muscle if you keep it basic at first.

Jeffro is right though, just look at the mirror...not the scale.

I'd say if you are small boned and have little body fat 140 is a decent weight, but adding more muscle would help, even 10 or 20 pounds.

you did not state your goals but 140 is thin for that height. for a natural bodybuilder 195-205 in lean off season form would be a nice weight. but that would take some years to build. i think you would start to look good once u hit about 170-180 in good condition.
