Hi everyone, I'm new to this blog which is really cool by the way. I was wondering if anyone here could help me with any recommendations on a good trainer for figure/fitness competition in the Tampa, Florida area. Just to give u a little history of me I use to be an athlete that was in tip top shape. Once I graduated college I contemplated competing in figure/fitness competition so that I could have a goal in order to keep myself in shape. Unfortunately I got seriously injured in not one but two car accidents on two different occasions. Now Iím seriously out of shape. The second time around was pretty bad Iím still doing therapy for it. But my doctor gave me the ok to start training again as long as I take it slow. I'm seriously looking for a good personal trainer that's great with nutritional diets for competitions who is able to work with overweight females. Someone that I could see in person and that is able to customize the nutritional plan specifically for my body type, needs and goals and that's able to make chances on my diet when is needed. I've already checkout a few places in Tampa. One of the place I check out is Tim gardeners bodytech place which was very nice by no means Iím knocking it but unfortunately is to expensive for my budget and I didnít feel to comfy about the computerized diet plan so this one is mark off my list. Iím also not interested on online training. I feel that is a great tool if you already have a relationship with the trainer and have work with them one on one in the past but for right now I feel that my needs will be better met with personal one on one training. I was wondering if anyone knows of any one that they could recommend who's really good and is able to work one on one for fitness/figure coaching on overweight females in the Tampa/Clearwater/St.pete area. Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Hi MissLady!

I don't personally have any first-hand recommendations for you for your area but if you search for "fitness competitor tampa" or "figure competitor tampa" many sites come up that may be of interest to you.

This site may help you get connected to someone that could help you:

http://www.womenstri-fitness.com/

Also, some figure competitors names (Danielle Rouleau, etc) come up that live in that area that are personal trainers - but I don't know how updated their sites may be.

Hope you find a person you can work with Smiley

I was going to suggest Tim Gardner and the Body Tech Team.  I think they are some of the best in the business, Tampa or anywhere else.  I don't know how expensive it is, but you may want to reconsider.  Also, you could probably find someone who is a client of Tim's and does diets and nutrition too.  Marcus Haley is one of Tim's guys.  Debi Lasewski is another.  Beth Watcher also?

Tim Gardner is excellent, but expensive.  Debi is on the east side by me (Jupiter/Palm Beach Gardens) as is my good friend Beth Wachter.

Beth looked INCREDIBLE at the Masters last weekend, and probably just as good or better at the USAs this weekend, although I haven't seen any pics yet.

Yes she did.  She text me this morning and said she weighed in at 115 making her a light-heavy.

You mean a LW?  LW is under 115.  She was a MW last weekend, so that means she is even tighter.   Shocked

She will probably win the LWs then... I saw Barbara Fletcher's weigh in pics, and she's looking quite soft.

Yeah, that's what I mean.  I'm sorry.  My mind is elsewhere.

I'm glad I am not competing in the LWs this weekend, then!   Cheesy
