I will say that the civilian death count numbers in South Ossetia are probably over stated, but just because they started evacuating before the invasion by Georgia. The big problem is that many of them had to leave the elderly behind because they could not make the trek so the ones who did get killed were the older folks who couldn't get out. There are several phone calls where loved ones are talking to the people they left behind and then lost contact with during the fighting. Had many of them not got out, what would that city look like. It's very clear by the pictures coming out that the Georgians went in to clear out "the people" If the people who were able to flee did not, they would all be dead. The intention was genocide. The South Ossetians have a very very very long allegiance to Russia. To reclaim the area, they decided to end the problem... They had a final solution in mind here and the pictures prove it. Very disgusting... It's become clear that in this case, the Russians were in the right.
