My thoughts exactly. Good post and examples.
Far better to sit back and applaud them both for the awesome feats they perform.
One thing is certain, Phelps is the best swimmer in history and Bolt the greatest sprinter.
Since I am more into track, I am more impressed by Bolt , but I have a track bias, and don't know squat about swimming.
It may also be a fact that niether man was juiced and is just an incredible genetic freak??

Also to the ones yapping about not running through the line...if i am not mistaken u get 50,000quid dor breaking a wr in a golden league meet...hgence why its smarter to break a wr multiple times by small margins than smash it once

Carl Lewis failed a drug test and should have been banned. American IOC officials covered it up. Phelps is more than likely in the same boat...

Bit off topic - but Natalie Du Toit is best in my mind.

Not to be all fruity, but to place 16th out of 21 ppl...a few yrs after having your leg amputated is beyond great to me. Even the dynamics of swimming with only 1 leg I think are so notable, let alone doing it at Olympic level and for 6 miles no less.

The only way to tell is to have Phelps run track against Bolt and have Bolt swim against Phelps.
I hope the pool is shallow enough for Bolt to touch bottom

Phelps is FAR he greatest athlete. He's the best SWIMMER, but thats about it. He only has so many medals cause he had like 80 swimming events to pick and choose from. Look at other sports like soccer, hockey, basketball ans so on - those guys only can get 1 medal and they have to win the whole thing. Those guys dont get to try for 8 medals, cause there is none. an "ATHLETE" to me can do ALL sports somewhat decent. People like Dion Sanders and Bo Jackson, who can excel at multiple sports, not just one.
