Equally eager to avoid a religious conversation (conversion!) I explained to this fundie nutter that I came form a very isolated Gaelic-speaking part of Ireland ruled by a High Council of Druids and that I knew nothing of Christianity... nor electricity, nor running water, nor roads, nor the modern world... and so couldn't partake of a discussion of the "Good News".

This uber-religious 'tard didn't get the joke... didn't notice my perfect English... nor my giggling relatives...


So he runs off to get a bible and returns (rather rudely) reading it aloud... started at Genesis: "In the beginning..."

I let him continue till he mentioned the tree in the Garden of Eden...

"Yssidril!" I shouted "Yssidril, the Tree of Life... I know this story, it's that Viking creation myth... is there a snake or serpent in the tree named Midgard by any chance?"

I spent the next ten minutes explaining the basics of (pre-Christian) Viking astrological symbolism and how the various symbolic archetypes in the story represent astrological/geodesic concepts (the tree is the Earth's axis; the serpent represents the equator and the tropics, the garden is the Valley of Edin in turkey etc etc).

This dumbfounded nutter didn't know what to think... so he asked me how I knew all this stuff.

I explained that all of this stuff goes back to an Ice-Age semi-global astrological mythos common to most ancient cultures... he cried.

(Not so bad really, the Irish minimum wage is about $14 an hour) this situation is just deliberately misrepresented by the shit-stirrers here... they needn't bother, I wouldn't have admitted to it if i was ashamed of anything, so they don't get a rise out of me... I consider myself a victim of economic circumstance... but "loser" is equally apt.

Until my dear mother was informed by her employed, Anthem Blue Cross, that there was a loophole for students who newly graduate to be indured by them if they become disabled(Does your systme have anything like that....wait, that's right, its FREE )

So I was insured, never drank

And, I have never, ever been remotely close to bankruptcy....just had to use the 60K I had saved to open a practice to live on

Happily, I have sorta ;)recouped that

We have a GREAT tort system over here.....especially with my daddy's HUGE insurance policy

But that brings us back to Adonis' well made point: due to the chronic IQ deficiency, most Americans never master even one language.

The education standards over here (Ireland) are pretty high (UNICEF puts us 8th in the world for basic literacy whereas the US is 18th). For example, for my final year of secondary school (high school) the higher level curricula are equivalent to first year college exams in the US (not my opinion, that's an international rating), I took:

Languages:
English   Irish   French   Latin

Sciences:
Maths   Biology   Chemistry   Physics

Arts:
History

Getting this thread back on topic, compare that to the standard of edumacation the average American highschooler receives... do they take 7 or 8 subjects to first year college level?

Over here you need to score a minimum of B's in at least 6 subjects just to get in to college. (By the way, schooling is free in Ireland... from kindergarten to PhD. Healthcare too, and we have the 19th best healthcare system in the world... the US is 37th).

Does this go some way to explain the impending collapse of the US?
