If that happened in CA (dont knwo wher eit is) he would be in for big trouble-not fired but would get decsciplined for sure.

The cop made 2 big mistakes;

1) the first was being in too close to the guy-police are trained to stay outside of punching range:

2)  the second, and far bigger mistake, was when he punched the guy wothout cause. If the cop felt threatened by the smack talk he should have stepped back and told the guy to relax. But you cannot arrest someone because they are talking shit to you, much less punch them in the throat.


That would be a federal case in CA., or anywhere actually, but for sure in CA.

Not only that, if the cop was really in danger, he should have brought he right to the ground or right to the hood with force...After the cop hit him, he still didn't really take the sitution under control...And was even seen laughing or smiling...

i think the cop will walk away without charges.  The kid did move toward him.  If some kid did the same to any of us - talking shit that close - I have a feeling it wouldn't just be one strike to the kid's throat.

its a hard call, i mean your supposed to respect officers, but he did yell at the kid and demanded he look me square in the eyes, which was a strange request and almost required an exaggerated gesture by the kid in order to comply with that demand, on the other hand the cop may have thought he was getting head butted or something so its a tough one...but in any case the cop had no reason to bring up race.
