How would you feel if Palin ascended to the Presidency if something were to happen to Mccain. Honest question.

Better then if I was looking at a plagerist like Joe Biden.Once again,is he still saying his wife was killed by a drunk driver?Still thinks we had tv in 1929?Still thinks its patriotic to pay more taxes?Still thinks Hillary is a better choice then him?Still telling cripples to stand up?Compare HIM to Palin. Not fucking close.

Really, let's compare Palin and Obama objectively, since the Republicans claim Palin is Obama's equal, or even that Palin is more qualified to possibly be President.

Undergraduate
Obama
-early undergrad at Occidental college, ranked 37th among liberal arts colleges by US News and World Report
-he did well enough to transfer to Columbia, the third most selective Ivy League college, Columbia being only slightly less selective than Harvard and Yale

Palin
-Went to the University of Idaho. While a decent school, it's considered a third tier school by the US News rankings.

Graduate
Obama
Harvard Law School.
-editor of law review in first year based on grades and writing ability. For those of you who are unaware, this essentially marks him as among the smartest and most able in a group full of very smart and able people.
-President of Law review in his second year. First black president of Harvard Law Review. Again, a very prestigious position, and marks him as both a leader, and as someone of exceptional ability.
-Graduated Magna Cum Laude (highest academic honors), again a significant achievement among a group of significant achievers.

Palin
N/A

Objectively then, Obama is either significantly smarter, harder working or both than Palin. His undergraduate education is objectively and provably better. His grad work proves that he was leaps and bounds beyond Palin in terms of intellectual and leadership ability. You don't get to be President of Harvard Law Review by being average, or a shrinking violet.

Advantage: Obama

Work, non governmental:
BIC-1983-1984
NY Public Interest Research Group-1984-85
Developing Communities Project, Director-85-88
University of Chicago School of Law-Constitutional law lecturer, 92-2004
(University of Chicago is ranked 7th among US Law schools. The fact that Obama got emplyment here, and then was able to continue, marks him as someone exptionally smart and able)
Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, 1993-2004, attorney

Palin
with husband in commercial fishing
and a brief stint as a TV reporter

Advantage: Obama His non-governmental work experience is more diverse, and objectively marks him as someone smarter and more able than Palin.

Governmental Experience

Obama
1997-2004 State senator of Illinois' 13th district. That district has nearly 800,000 people in it.

2005-present Illinois Senator

Palin
City councilwoman of Wasilla, a town of 6k, 1992-1996
Mayor of Wasilla, 1996-2004
governor of Alaska, 2006-present. Note that Alaska has 600k people in the whole state.

Advantage: Obama As both senator and state representative, Obama has experience representing more people, and larger districts with larger issues than does Palin.

Honestly, if you were on the search committee for, say, a board of director's position of a fortune 500 company, who would get the nod, Obama or Palin? It's Obama, if you have even a shred of honesty in your body. Given that, why is Palin even in the ballpark as number 2 in line for the Presidency? Don't get me wrong, Sarah Palin has some achievements, and she has a right to be proud of them. But realistically, in any category that matters Obama is better than Sarah Palin.

FOREIGN nations visited:

In August 2005, Obama  traveled to Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. The trip focused on strategies to control the world's supply of conventional weapons, biological weapons, and weapons of mass destruction as a first defense against potential terrorist attacks Following meetings with U.S. military in Kuwait and Iraq in January 2006, Obama visited Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories. He left for his third official trip in August 2006, traveling to South Africa, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Chad. In a nationally televised speech at the University of Nairobi, he spoke forcefully on the influence of ethnic rivalries and corruption in Kenya]

So let's see - discounting his campaign trips and meeting with World leaders of UK, Germany, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan - he has been on official business talking war stuff with the Senate Foreign Relations committe to:

Israel
Kuwait
Iraq
Russia
Ukraine
South Africa
Kenya
Djibouti
Ethiopia
Chad
Jordan
Palestinian territories
Kuwait
Azerbaijan

And Palin once left the USA and visted 1 country.

Think Palin doesn't matter?

Mccain is 72 years old, and has had cancer 4 times.

Mccain smoked 2 packs a day for 25 years.

He has degenerative arthritis.
He's had cataract surgery.

Also, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, he's
Arthritic, has had Vertigo.

He's on 6 different medications including for
Kidneys, cholesterol, sleep, blood clots.

And he's about to enter the most stressful job on Earth?

By the way,McCain has released his medical records.Any chance Joe Biden "the king of the annuyerisms" will?

So you admit that a Palin presidency is a dangerous prospect and by your criteria concede that Palin does not have enough experience to be President if something were to happen.
I think Palin is as inexpierenced as Obama

A girl interviewed about Mccain doing the debate, "It's good, I would have voted for McCain, maybe..."

And these are the people ladies and gentleman that make up the voter base. She says she would vote for McCain, then adds "maybe"

We're fucked either way i beleive

I'm very afraid it doesn't matter how irrational Mccain is or how uninformed Palin is shown to be. In the heartland Obama is a black muslim with a terrorist wife.

Look, I'm not a huge fan of McCain either, but I'd rather have him in there then Obama.  A weak, symapthetic, liberal President is not what the U.S needs right now.

That's what Clinton was when he stepped in office, and we end up $200B on the flip side which Tiny Tim has spent on candy and Daddy's War.  You get the same bucket of intelligence with Obama.  Lastly...McCain doesnt understand economics at  his own admission.

That's what Clinton was when he stepped in office,

Clinton took the Presidency at a time with little military spending and was the benefactor of a little thing called the internet.  History will prove him to be a middle child President at best.

I havent seen a legit arguement about this yet. What i do see is most on here would rather rely on the government for everything. Take my money and use it for a handout for people who are too lazy and dont have the drive to take care of themselves or their families. TA seems to be on board with this type of irrational thought.

Epic talking random shit like the steroid abusing midget that you are.

This is about McCain, his policies, his plans, and you are attacking TA's personal views..? Talk about McCain's lack of economic knowledge, or practicality, or even his lack of understanding of the definitions of shia and al-queda; even when he's given a free pass on national defense.  ::)

You've become a running joke on this forum.

Imagine what happens if he wins this thing!  He'll be ready to declare WWIII within a few weeks of taking office.

I'm not a huge fan by any means, but Obama is the only choice in this election.  We need a rational thinker in the office.
Is there only two people running for Presidency ???

Reading this thread you have to wonder if there any Repugnants that can form an intelligent argument.

For the most part, they just regurgitate the same tired buzzwords and personal attacks.

They never demonstrate any independent thoughts; they never add anything of substance to a debate.

I'm not really a Democreep myself; it's just something I notice.

Repugnants always sound like 'tards'.

Sadly, none of it matters; people will vote for the guy that they can relate to the most.

McCain will be the next president.

Look at the old posts.  Intelligence equals Adaptability which puts Clinton (top end Oxford) and Obama (Hall of Fame Harvard) in the same bucket. Why you keep adding Palin to the discussion.  McCain couldnt get Bobby in Louisiana...given he wasnt playing that brown man against brown man BS, and Rice didnt have anything to gain...so he just went for a pretty soccer mom to get Hilliary votes.  There is nothing else...so stop trying to make it up.

1.   McCain isn’t for Change…just took that line for Obama.
2.   Was going to claim he got the $700B package completed because he went to Washington.  Complete, New Level BS!
3.   Onlyme needs to cut back on the beer.  Obama’s debate.  Smart move not to be bullish against McCain.  Worthless US Media is already trying to call him an Angry Black Man.

McCain doesn’t understand economics by his own admission.  How the hell is going to fight the Republicans when he has been at the head of the pack for 35 years.  More BS!

I’d vote JFK, Jr if he was still around.  Since he isn’t…Obama is the REAL choice for 2008.

My theory on this whole charade is this:

Mccain was informed by his staff that Palin was proving to be so hopeless with the mock debates and she is not learning anything or capable of it.  Mccain is known to have a huge temper and he himself is entirely frustrated with Palin.  So he tried to suspend the debates in the hopes that Palin could avoid the debates or stall for more time in the hopes that the people wouldn`t have adequate time to pay attention.

They also may have discussed replacing Palin altogether.  Mccain and his aides are clearly frustrated with her and are in damage control.  They don`t know what to do.  They know Palin is ruining it for him even worse than he is ruining it for himself.

compelling opinion.....nice

as for Palin.....how can someone of that incapacity - intellectual and in terms of experience - come this close to the prize.....its unbelievable....you know there would be literally 100,000 in the sphere of U.S. politics, who are more capable than her....politics huh - money, looks and back-slapping......its all it is....

And that had nothing whatsoever to do with govermental decision making? When Clinton was elected after the gulf war the US was not in debt? Please think before you type.

Yes, but when you expierence the biggest economical growth ever, its kinda hard to fuck that up.

Also, what dramatic issues did Clinton have to deal with, other then getting caught with a fat chick.

Presidents that had to deal with the second world war, the korean war and the vietnam war did not leave the US in great debt. Reagan did. Bush did. Clinton had to pick up that mess and under his administration things got a whole lot better. You're implying the decisions made by his administration had nothing to do with that?

The point I'm trying to make is that any administration at that time would have taken the U.S out of debt due to the economic situation after the the gulf war, it had nothing to do with the Clinton administration.

Reagan had a tough economy just like Bush, not that I'm a big fan of Bush but with 911 he did not have an easy time.

You wanna see spending, vote in Obama...................
