THE FIREHOUSE Restaurant.Is it Garbage? Overpriced I-HoP? Poor Quality?One-Star?

3-4hours. Fine food and wine. Live music. Finest crystal and flatwear. It's not a place were you wolf done the grub. It's an experience. But even so not worth the 2k!

I guess you'd have to be gaycultured to "get it". I'll stick to Wendy's. I think all this "5 star restaurant" stuff is bullshit. I'd rather go to my grandmothers house for some good food than one of those restaurants with miniscule portions and boring ass music.

I still don't understand the facination on here with the Venice beach scene.  I've been to LA probably two dozen times in the past few years and never once felt the need to visit the Firehouse or train at Gold's.  I guess it's only something MattT types do. 

What you have never wanted to see Mike O'Hearn doing seated calf raises in person?

I ordered an omelet, and the waiter asked me "Whole eggs, or egg whites only?" I responded, "Whole eggs, please" and the waiter looked at me, made a face, and said "No, you want egg whites." Ummmm...that's not okay with me. Also, the omelet was mediocre, as were the fixin's. Overpriced for what it is.

Hit and miss.  It's right next to my office so I go in there a lot.  Frankly the service sucks dirty mule ass.  Pretty much any night I go in there I have to hunt down a waiter on my own....lunch isn't as bad.  There are some things on the menu that are pretty good but they are things that are pretty hard to screw up.  Most everything else reminds me of licking the back of my hand for sustenance.  Bascically if you need food to survive, eat here, if you drive out of your way more than 3 minutes to dine at this place you're an asshole.

Mediocre food and miserable service. You'll wait for empty tables, and a $10 avocado burger comes with a quarter of an avocado (and it sucks, too). Seriously. Don't bother.

Eh. My mug of coffee was dirty and had to be sent back. The waiter wasn't apologetic about it. The pancakes were good except occasionally I tasted what seemed like dirty dish water or something equally distasteful. The ambiance was like being at the gym thanks to the grunting macho man who sat next to us and barked into his cell phone throughout his whole meal as he straddled his chair. The outside is cool. Just drive by and admire it. No need to actually subject yourself to the inside.

I've made it my goal to try to familarize myself with Venice.  However, this was not a great place to start.  I came here on Saturday afternoon for a nice lunch.  After being told we couldn't sit outside we choose a table next to the window.  We then were asked for our drink order 3X.  And we still got diet instead of regular coke.  I'm guessing that short term memory isn't the wait staff's strong suit.  I got the chilli with a salad.  It was the most disgusting salad I've ever tasted.  The honey mustard dressing was almost pure oil with a yellow tinge to it.  The chilli was edible but as I was eating it I commented that I would never return to this place.  My bf had a burger with fries.  There was no ketchup on the table or none offered.  The service here sucks and so does the food.  YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A good friend came down from NorCal and wanted to have breakfast here.  She said this place serves anything from healthy organic eating to ghetto-lard-infused food.  This place is also known for feeding bodybuilders by the troughful.

Upon entering this place, I found it pretty charming...kind of an old world feeling.  The section we sat in was pretty small and pretty full for early Sunday but as long as we got a seat, it doesn't matter.  One thing's for sure: it was pretty noisy inside!

I ordered multigrain pancakes while my gal pal had an egg white omelet with spinach and mushrooms.  Since I'm into healthy eating, I thought the 3 stacker was sufficient and don't feel half as bad.  My friend enjoyed her omelet.  Our coffee cups were being refilled like clockwork.

We were disappointed that we didn't see any cute bodybuilders there...not even ugly ones.  Maybe it was too early for them or being Sunday, they're all at church.  The only bodybuilders there were us!  We were more buff than most of the patrons!
All in all, my experience with The Firehouse was pretty good.  The service was quick and friendly and the place itself is bright and clean. 

The food was decent but somehow I wonder what the ghetto food would taste like if I weren't such a darn healthy eater .

I noticed that a few Yelpers had a touch of food poisoning while eating here.  Though the food is quite decent, this place is not set up to prepare foods like sushi.  I'll stay away from such foods at this establishment.

I had food posioning during the time I ate here, so I don't have of a good recollection of what I ate. From what I remember, I ate quite well, but mainly used their bathroom facilities.

Judging on their facilities, they weren't that great. It was kinda dingy and uncomfortable in there since it was the only bathroom in the whole restaurant.

I eat at the Firehouse fairly frequently, and I will say that while it is a bit overpriced, the food is great, and it has a distinctive, laid-back ambiance, that is worth checking out. They also have a good sushi happy hour during the late afternoon/early evening. If in Venice its worth checking out....

One odd fact about the place....they can get rather pissy, when you try modifying the Bob Bowl... I like to substitute brown rice instead of white rice, and get steamed broccoli instead of onions. It used to be no problem....now they have a conniption when I try to do this...lol

I guess you missed the part about food poisoning, dirty bathrooms, incompetent staff, unsatisfying menu choices, low quality ingredients and overpriced cost per meal.

I`d rather not take the risk of Bob Chick`s Baked Beans turning into a post-workout disaster to the emergency room.

One review like any of the above in a public forum would sink a credible restaurant.  Looks like Burger King is not only better quality,service and price, you don`t have to play Russian Roulette with your health.
