BB rows LEAST effective AND most stressful on lower back muscles.

T-bars-the real deal not a bar in the corner, supported-back DB/BB rows, hammer rows, etc.

I personally much prefer the bar-in-the-corner way. Feels more comfortable and i can move more weight.
No doubt about it...

Under Grip Barbell Rows
Corner T-Bar Rows
Over Grip Barbell Rows
One Arm Dumbell Rows

dude, all of them work...back is a region with complexly intertwined musles, so hitting it from as many angles with as many variation as possible is best
one-arm rows work great for making the lat longer (therefore wider frame) - i combine them w/ t-bar and reverse close grip bbell rows - works really well

Just the one KSA shows-the angles and leverage are better than when using a bar in the corner, which isn't as stable on either end, though a triangle attachment's pretty stable. With the real one you can change the center of gravity, the leverage and angle by leaning back or forward, and can also use more force without worrying about it coming loose. Plus there are more grip selections which makes a difference. The intensity applied by leverage when using a grip that's farther away from the weight, as shown there magnifies the intensity on the muscle.

after stubbornly performings bb rows for years despite feeling very little, because they were the most "hardcore" and all the "legends" built their backs with it, i eventually took a leap of faith and discarded it earlier this year.

I replaced them with hammer style chins, performs after my deads and my back has never been as good

Smart, f--- what the book says go with what works. Various widths of hammer grip chins and pulldowns are no. 1 in my book.

Underhand BB rows and DB rows, all in the 8-10 range.  Any more reps and it's seems like my rear delt takes over?   ???

dumbbell rows I feel are the most effective row.. BUT..that's why there's so many rowing options and exercises, what works for one person doesn't always work for another. Try them all and go with the ones you feel put the most emphasis on the target area you're trying to work i.e. upper, mid, lower back, whatever...

T-bar w/bar in corner althought I prefer the ones bolted to the floor but my gym doesn't have one.

Where are you pulling the bar into?

Its its high up, ie to your chest or just below then the rear delts are engaged more i believe

Try pulling lower into the stomach - i ve done sets of 15-20 reps and the onus is still on teh lats.

Any higher and i start to really feel it in my arms!

I haven't done BB rows in a few months now and i doubt i will do them again. I now realise that i much prefer t-bars and realised i've been wasting my time with BB rows. Just never felt "right"...
No doubt about it...
