Interesting to watch.
I know some of the very best powerlifters in the world. They do get psyched up for a lift and in trianing, but not any of that face slapping that you see in the vid. They tend to do reps slower, and also use stricter form that this guy does. They also don't usually train in benching suits except for the last few weeks leading up to a content (and of course in the contest itself). You would be amazed how much extra weight a good benching shirt can add to a lift.
The vid makes being "hard core" look cool, but a big part of powerlifting is actuallybalancing injury prevention with muscle building, so the "don't try this at home" advice applies to anyone seeing this vid and thinking about adoping a similar style.
Also, the guys I know, are all all round powerlifters - they bench, squat, and deadlift. I suspect some of the guys in this vid are pretty poor squatters and deadlifters, focusing only on benching.
Most of the lifts you see in the vid would not count as a proper lift in a contest. But still, these are huge weights these guys are handling.
