How Low Can It Go?

You Obama supporters are getting duped but are too blind to realize it.

For the second time in a week, a prominent Democrat has downgraded Barack Obama's definition of the middle class -- leading Republicans to question whether he'll stick to his promise not to raise taxes on anyone making under $250,000.

The latest hiccup in the campaign message came Friday morning on KOA-AM, when New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson pegged the middle class as those making $120,000 and under.

Click here to listen to Richardson talk about Obama's tax plan.

"What Obama wants to do is he is basically looking at $120,000 and under among those that are in the middle class, and there is a tax cut for those," Richardson said in the interview, according to a clip posted on YouTube.

There's no indication that Obama has changed his tax policy, which states that anyone making under $200,000 would get a tax cut under his administration, and nobody making under $250,000 would be hit with a tax increase. Richardson actually recited that part of Obama's plan correctly earlier in his radio interview.

But the Republican National Committee quickly blasted out an e-mail saying, "At this rate, it won't take long until Obama is again raising taxes on Americans making as little as $42,000 a year."

"When Barack Obama comes to your door this Halloween, there will be no treats -- just taxes," the e-mail said.

Joe Biden caused headaches for the campaign Monday when he told a Scranton, Pa., TV station that Obama's tax break "should go to middle class people -- people making under $150,000 a year."

John McCain said the tax threshold was "creeping down," while the Obama campaign accused him of lying about Obama's tax policies.

How does one define 'Middle Class"?

60K/yr is 'middle class' income in the midwest, but here in Cali, that puts you on the ragged edge....

I believe raising taxes under 250K  is too low and not a good thing to do.

But to put some of this in perspective.   The average house hold income is 44K per year in America (49K in California).   If you are making 100K+  You are doing well, but are still middle class.

If this # starts creeping down more, as many of us are worried it will, we must vote these guys out of office (assuming they will win next tuesday).  We cannot punish mild success to that degree in this country of opportunity.

Forget Obama.

Vote for a man who will continue the policies that have crashed the economy, bailed out millionaires, and deregulated the investment industry to the point where our country is in a stranglehold.

In other words, vote McCain/Palin.

Because 8 years of failed policies just aren't enough.

You freaking gomer...  Nobody under 250,000 gets a tax increase... The only thing that Richardson is saying with 120,000 is that 100 percent of the middle class gets a tax cut.  There is nothing to indicated a change of story on who gets a tax cut and who doesn't in what you quoted coach...  try reading or go find the part that indicates a change and come back.  The 120,000 is a pointless number, it's just the same as saying 100 percent of the middle class gets a tax cut.  It's like McCain's number of the middle class being anyone who makes under 5 million a year.  Under that stupid benchmark, a lot of people in the middle class get a tax increase lololol...

Check out this clip.  Obama is all over the place.  He even defined "rich" as those making over $97K a year.

wow, bb and coach really don't get it...  What will it matter if Obama says the middle class ends at 60,000...  The plan is not delineated by the definition of middle class you bozos...  If he says it's 60,000 by his plan that just means he's saying the lower portion of the rich from 60,000 to 250,000 get a tax cut or stay the same.  This isn't rocket science ::)

yea, but the problem with the they're all liars on this issue is that coach and bb and mccain are misapplying the statements of where the middle class vs. rich is as changes to Obama's tax plan... It's not... They're taking numbers that have only relative meaning to each voter and saying it's a hard line in the plan...  So coach and McCain are the one lying here, not Obama.

They have not quoted a single source that shows Obama has changed his plan.  They're throwing these numbers because they are stupid or they think we are stupid.

If you're summarizing the clip I posted, then you know you're leaving out several pieces, including:

Obama saying in the third presidential debate that everyone above $250K would see a tax increase, followed by . . .

Obama saying in an ad that everyone below $200K would get a tax cut, followed by . . .

Biden saying tax relief should only go to the middle class, which he defined as everyone below $150K, followed by . . .

Obama saying in the Democrat debate saying anyone over $97K is not the middle class, they are the "upper class."

It ends with Obama saying "you can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper, it's still going to stink."  Sounds like his tired old liberal tax policies.

It all depends on where you live.

Obama doesn't take that into consideration.

Now... to be completely fair, McCain is just as guilty of socialism.

Hello, $850 billion corporate welfare?

Hello, proposal to buy up "bad" mortgages?

Saying I make $250K right now would be lying to myself and everyone here. I, and many others here, don't make $250yr so it's a non issue.

And what about the combined taxable income of married couples? There is only so much you can legally deduct as pre-tax income.

nice joke

Sort of like Obama's and Biden's everchanging definition of the middle class, upper class, and "the rich."  All one big joke.

Clinton started the deregulation sooooo......

I heard something interesting about CA yesterday.  Roughly 150K people pay the taxes that support a state of 34 million people.  That's one Democratic state.  Imagine how those figures would look under an Obama tax plan.  His idea of upper, middle and lower class is amazingly stupid and off base.

A dual earner family with kids making $100k is not upper class, especially not here in CA.

Biden saying Tax relief that HE definds it as 150... its obvious he had a "McCain Senior Moment" and

Democratic Debate saying anyone over 97k is not middle class... Thats a Individual, and i dont think making 97k is "Middle class"  a individual making 97k is def not in the "middle" it is in the to 10% for sure... just because he said that doesnt mean he doesnt think they deserve a tax cut which they would get under an obama plan

You really really are digging..

Has McCain said 1 TIME he wants the middle class to get a tax cut? NOPE!! wants to keep them the same Bush tax cuts that benefit the top 5%....

I am yet to see 1 republican on here come with 1 intelligent debate... you loose this one once again
