Who cares? I'm sure someone could find HOURS of new Arnold footage if they checked out some of the deleted scenes from Pumping Iron. It's stored away somewhere I believe. Someone really needs to publish some of that stuff.

I think Arnold bought the stuff. He won't be releasing it.

upjacked, the video is working fine.

The ONLY person who can release them is Arnold himself.  :(

That's unfortunate. There are full guestposing scenes of Franco, Ed Corney, Robby R., Ken Waller and Arnold that were filmed just prior to the Mr. Olympia by George Butler himself, and only shown very briefly in Pumping Iron. Would be cool to see those in full.

Yup. Arnold bought ALL the Pumping Iron footage from Geore Butler, and now has sealed them away like the lost Ark.

If only they were released as a DVD box set.  :(

He overpaid for the footage for one reason only, to remove incriminating scenes of him prior to his run for governor. Ya it would be nice to see the rest of the footage and there's no reason he couldn't have included most of it as part of the 25th anniversary, in fact i was disappointed in him for leaving parts out.

Considering Arnold bought the Pumping Iron rights (90+ hrs footage) from George way back in 1991, I doubt he did that for the sole purpose of avoiding any incriminating scenes resurfacing prior to his 2003 governor election. But I don't doubt that that such footage may exist!  :o

More deleted Pumping Iron footage, PLEASE...  :'(

Damn, that's alot of gym ownings!

"Nonono, it's side chest Franco, not front chest. Things change a little bit when you hit it from the side... ;)... and if you don't have it, don't hit it!"

Tell me about it. All those hours of footage! George and the film crew basically lived in Arnold's shadow 24/7 for a few weeks. There was a rumor going around that more footage was gonna be on DVD for the 30th anniversary. Obviously, that didn't happen.  :'(

I love that scene you mentioned, GoneAway, and the scene where they're partying at Arnold's crib, and Arnold appears to be tipsy.  :D

Imagine the back he could have built if he realized that he didn't need to go that high up :-\

Would it be as good as yours?

Whoever this Arnold is it looks as if he could have won the Olympia several times in his day, but if he ever tried to make a come back years later he would have lost.

You're speculating because you're all over his nuts. Bottom line he was known to have over-paid for the rights (figure of around a million quoted), and there's only one real, viable explanation for it as opposed to your speculation. It was to keep the footage of nazi salutes and admiration of Hitler out of the public domain prior to entry in to politics. Until i mentioned this, you were completely unaware of it even if you deny it now LOL. You're also unaware that he used to torture Joe Weider a jew by playing records of nazi marching songs that he would sing alongto when Joe came over to visit in the early years.

All the other stuff including the 25th year anniversary release was a way of recouping some of that investment, besides the fact that he's a fan and would probably have liked it out anyway. However if he was a fan and really wanted to share, no reason at all that he couldn't have included all of those parts discussed here as part of that 25 year package.

Yeah. And...?  :)

Again, I'm saying it's very doubtful his sole reason to own the footage BACK IN 1991 was to keep it out of the public eye for a 2003 recall election.  ::)

I'm not disputing there may be some risque footage.

Get it? Got it? Gooooooood...

Boy, Pumpster, sometimes I think you have difficulty grasping things.

Back on topic, apparently this video clip was taken when Arnold visited Finland in 1972. If anyone has any more details, please share.

So your saying that he was totally maxed out? Strange to think that most top 3 comp/at the state level have lower bodies that out match him these days even without HGH/slin :-\

Not at all...But the question should be is it less effective? I'm not sure the answer to that...

That would not make sense. Why would Arnold NOT release various archival footage of himself lifting weights or joking with his friends or doing whatever else?

It would be a great addition to the BBing history books and culture to see more footage of Arnold and friends from the glory days, while it's still in storage and not perminantly unavailable.

One reason why Arnold may not be releasing more footage is that it may not be highly profitable to do so. Extra hours of footage would likely only appeal to a small group of BBing fans and not the majority of the mainstream public, like the original Pumping Iron (and to a lesser extent the 25th anniversary) did. Arnold is still a bodybuilder at heart and I hope that he can approve the release of at least a few more hours of raw footage. If it keeps Arnold's image intact, I don't see the problem with releasing this footage. It shouldn't be about making a profit anymore.

With all due respect, GoneAway, I disagree and think that's far from being the reason. When the 25th Anniversary of Pumping Iron came to DVD it hit the media in a big way. Not only was it featured on Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood, Arnold even promoted it on Jay Leno!

The release of MORE footage for another "Anniversary release" would be profitable, I believe. Only time will tell...  :(
