It works like this: You buy stock, then you announce on forums that the stock will skyrocket. That's when people will start buying like crazy, the prize goes up and you sell. Next people will realize that nothing happens and that they payed way too much for the stock. The stock plummets. Now you buy stock again. You can thank me later.

Or email 10,000 people telling them a (hopefully volatile) stock will go up, another 10,000 saying down. Split the group you chose correctly for into 2, tell half up half down on another volatile stock. Repeat, repeat. Tell the remaining 1,250 how much you charge to pick them a winner every time. I think it was a getbigger who posted this originally.

Haha unfortunally both methods won't work on GM. Not a penny stock yet.

Good call so far... GM bottomed out under 3 yesterdya, down from 6 on wednesday. CNBC has been talking about it.

Paulson is announcing who gets the $ now. I don't know if that means GM will skyrocket to 10+, or if it'll go to zero on takeover with the bondsholders getting paid first.

This is done with football picks, too. Give half the favorite; the other half, the underdog...

Gov't bailouts haven't been too good to stockholders. See Freddie Mac, Fannie Mai & AIG.

maybe these auto companies should stop paying people who barely graduated high school 25 bucks an hour to work in a factory and stop promising them crazy health benefits and pension plans that are bankrupting these companies.

GM has something like 600 BILLION in pensions. Everyone knew GM would just take 50 or 100 BIL in handouts, and just pay off their retirement packages from the top (rich executives) first.

Henry Paulson just implied he won't be giving the $ to big 3 automakers - but he will give money to GMAC and other lenders if they lend $.

bad news for GM execs, but might be good news for those who buy today. $3.16, up from 2.90 this AM.
