It was 2000cals for me too (daily avarage over the week), my maintenance is about 2500 cals. If you have an easier time eating 3 times a day, that's fine of course. I have an easier time if I can stuff myself once a day with whatever I want. Additionally, I sipp on a whey shake during the day to ensure enough protein intake.
