back day
« on: November 18, 2008, 10:56:56 AM »
1 hour of stretching drinking coffee and watching Maury. Off to the Gym. 1 block away.

15 minutes on the bike to warm up scope out whats happening on the floor.

Jack hammers all ten reps.
25#
50#
75#

One arm rows all ten reps.
100#
120#

Bent rows over hand grip all eight reps. Completely bent over picking it up from the floor.
135#
185#
225#
275# kinda sloppy not bent over all the way like Yates.

Bent over Ronnie Coleman closegrip rows all eight reps. That T-bar corner row job. Completely bent over, no bouncing. I'm the only one that does them in my gym.
1 plate
2 plates
3 plates
4 plates
5 plates

Chins. As many as I can do. Did four sets today. I do as many as I can behind the neck. then as many as I can do to the front.

2 sets of hyper-extensions. I don't know ten or fifteen reps.

1 hour 20 minutes and I was out.

Thats how it's done in NYC timesquare. Never a machine.

Any advice for Chef Tim?

Bent rows with dumbells. Like one arm rows but using both arms. I saw JOJ doing them in BFTO. For me any heavier then 75# I loose form. After my injury and watching that Dugdale and Dorian video. I stick to strick form.

Sub in some deadlifts and pullovers sometimes.

Do you change grips on chins? You should often.

Good layout though.

I do deads every other workout. I was drinking Havannah Club last night so my head was kinda hurting today. Chins are either underhand or overhand. Never the close grips. Pull-overs are thrown in every now and again. I asking Getbigs advisory team about this because one of the trainers told me I should incorporate machines in my back routine?

I never got much out of machines, but the hammer strength plate loaded low row is a damn fine piece of equipment for back training.

The are no absolutes, but i have found that most trainers don't know much about building muscle and/or strength.

Machines won't hurt, but i would never rely on them. Seated cable rows are good, but i hardly ever use a machine for anything.

Good luck!

Chef Tim,

Never pull behind the neck on anything. It any leads to injury of the rotatory cuffs. The best movements are the ones that exhaust
you completely when a good set is preformed. i.e. Under-hand chins, T-bar rows, Barbell bent rows, Deadlifts, Low-pulley Rows.
Enjoy.......

Waaaaaaaay done buying mags. My influences are reading Getbig, watching the videos, and going to the shows. I bought Ronnies vids and hurt myself, bad. Now I'm going down the Dorian road and going for the form. Little by little the poundages are increasing. The only exhaustion sets are done at the end with extentions and chins. Influenced by pumping iron and trying to show off. I do behind the neck chins. I just think it's an impressive movement and it draws attention? Chicks as well as the chumps that are scaredy cats of the chin bar. Thank you for the response.

Funny, seated cable rows and the low pull Hammer machine are the only ones I use.
