POLL: If your spouse became incapacitated...
« on: November 26, 2008, 07:08:00 AM »
Do you agree or disagree with this woman's husband?

From today's "Dear Abby:"

Dear Abby:

I need some serious advice.  I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis a year ago.  My condition is stable.  I have taken the necessary precautions such as dietary changes, excercise and prescription medications.

My husband and I have been married for 8 years.  This is my second marriage and his third.  My husband is a very stubborn man.  Once he makes a decision he stands by it until death.

He has recently announced that should I become incapacitated and unable to perform my "wifely duties," he is going to find a "sex buddy."  What should I do about this announcement?

thats shitty my mom has RA its not disease that just affects you physically it makes you very dependent on others at times which can be very frustrating mentally and emotionally. Hopefully this guy was saying it in a joking manner if not this guy needs to have his ass kicked.

I would cheat, but I would be discreet about it.  Discreet, in this case, does not mean secretive.  I would not parade my escapades in his face or do anything that would be obviously mean-spirited and hurtful, but I am not going to go without sex.  Period.  (I would not expect him to go without sex if the situation were reversed.)

I do not know many men (gay or straight) that would.  I believe the men who say they would never cheat in that scenario are lying—to their spouse, to themselves, or to both.

Here's the problem, as I see it. A lot of married women use sex as leverage or don't feel it is a part of a normal marriage. I know one dude whose wife wasn't in the mood for 3 years. The tried counseling, changing drugs, talking and once he got tired of begging and kissing her ass some other chick gave him a little. The guy felt like a teenager, LOL! His wife was upset that he couldn't read her mind and had sex with someone else. Not having sex with her husband for three years wasn't a problem for her so it shouldn't be a problem for him, apparently.

If the 'Dear Abby' lady's hubby said he's dump her, I'd say he was a jerk. All he said was that enjoying regular sex was a priority.

Now this I totally agree with the chick in that scenario sounds like a little girl not a woman Ive noticed that alot of the younger immature girls have that "you should know what im thinking and what i want" as well as use sex as leverage attitude which is complete bullshit imho. That being said that still doesnt excuse this guys actions if he where to go out and do what he said he was going to do in my opinion.

Incidentally, how long do you think you could go without sex without becoming psychologically unstable?

I didn't vote yet, I'm thinking.......if the husband/wife agree that it would only a sexual relationship, is it still cheating? Would that be openly cheating or discreetly cheating?

Back in the day men had a wife and a mistress.  He loved the wife and did freaky stuff with the mistress.  From what I understand it worked out okay...lol.  I was denied sex for 6 months and I was never so close to cheating in my life.  Days after we broke up I was "back in the saddle" so to speak.  Torture.  I think I should sue her for carpel tunnel.

I am just a young horny guy who likes sex and not having any for six months was lame.  I had wrist issues and she tried to tell me that it was going on Getbig, but I knew the truth....  She wouldn't even do a Dutch Rudder on me.  What kind of shit is that?   ;D

Seriously though, can you imagine doing everything she wanted (vocalized) and still not getting laid.  A week later I'm treating girls with little or no respect and I am getting laid.  Live and learn.

If I get married and my wife holds out for 3 years I will pop in some porn and start jerking it right in front of her.  "Sorry babe, if you won't get me off then Jenna will."

It's fair enough. I am never getting laid again so I am not too worried about a situation like this.

Is it really shocking that men do not want to go without sex?  As I said previously, the men who say they would never cheat in this scenario are lying—to their spouse or to themselves!

Men are different. Like I said, I have gone for 15 months or so without sex. Unlike in gay world I can't just go to a dark room or find a gloryhole. In that respect it is much easier to be gay.

I wish; unfortunately I am a 9 or 9.5 on that famous scale.

No, I just don't do random, one night stands...so that doesn't leave many options open. In fact in gay world it is much easier to get laid than in straight world.
