Giants receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally shoots himself in the leg
BY RALPH VACCHIANO AND LARRY MCSHANE DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS
Talented but troubled Giants wideout Plaxico Burress, adding to his litany of off-field woes, accidentally shot himself in the leg on Friday night, a source told the Daily News on Saturday.
Burress, 31, spent the night at a Manhattan hospital with the self-inflicted wound, according to the source. The injury was described only as non-life-threatening, and details of the accident remained sketchy.
The gun apparently discharged while Burress was inside the Latin Quarter, a midtown nightclub on Lexington Ave., ESPN.com reported. The club's Web site advertises Friday as Latin night, with "sportsmen galore" and "man hands pulling lady legs around their waists."
Police were investigating the incident along with NFL officials.
"We are gathering information, just like everyone else," said NFL spokesman Joe Browne.
Super Bowl hero Burress, who caught the game-winning pass from Eli Manning, was already expected to miss Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins with a hamstring injury.
The Giants were due on a Saturday afternoon flight to Washington. The team had no comment on the report.
Burress has become a season-long distraction for the Super Bowl champions, creating endless controversy with his bad behavior.
Burress's erratic antics have already cost him $204,000 in fines this year. He was suspended for one game after going AWOL, and benched for the first quarter of another game after skipping medical treatment.
Among his fines was a $45,000 penalty imposed by the NFL for verbally abusing an official.
Over his four seasons in New York, Burress has been fined more than 30 times by the Giants. He was also benched for a 2005 game in San Diego after showing up late for team meetings.
The season's litany of disasters came after Burress reached the pinnacle of his career. He caught the winning TD in the Giants' Super Bowl victory, and signed a five-year, $35 million contract in September.
Despite his woes, Burress is still the Giants' second-leading receiver this year with 35 catches and four TDs.http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giants/2008/11/29/2008-11-29_giants_receiver_plaxico_burress_accident.html

Plaxico has been a monster disappointment all season. I drafted his monkey ass for both my fantasy teams and he's been benched in both leagues. He'll never play for this team again!

If he can play again this season, they need him. After that they need to get something decent in exchange for getting rid of his annoying ass.

I didn't think you could carry concealed in NYC.
you can get a special written permit if you are famous or receive threats. Or you could just carry illegal and get your driver/friend to take credit in the rare chance you get caught with it.

Can also get it if for special business purposes but I think it has to be insured or something. Anyways, Plax is a fucking idiot. Superbowl hero and he still does this shit.

Yep yep. There are circumstances when accidents can happen. Glocks for example, have no external safety, other than trigger safety practice and the inner trigger stop. Adjusting it when concealed, you can shoot yourself. When I was 21 and carrying, I was trying to hide a glock on a date with some anti-gun girl... damn near shot myself in the femoral artery. I felt my finger on trigger as I subtly tried to hide it... holy shit, life flashed before my eyes... never tried to hide it again. Plax is an idiot tho. no doubt there.

After doing a little research on my own, it has come to my attention that Burress actually shot himself in the thigh, and not in the foot.
Unless the Topic was done in more of a figuratively speaking light.
