Its been mentioned 100's of times that 99 was his best. He looked best 97/98 with a waistline IMO.

Big Ronnie all the way. He introduced coming into a bbdg show carring 290lbs of ripped mass. ALL top 15 teir bodybuilders ave disteneted bellies that are attributed to HGH / IGF-1 / Slin abuse.

Little Ronnie looks better, but you'd have to be a moron to pretend not to realise that Ronnie's added width and overall size was what helped him stay on top. If he'd stayed all streamlined then the Jays, Levrone's etc would have dwarfed him after a while with their superior width and thickness.

Jay in 2003 especially would have beaten Ronnie 2002. I think this was where Ronnie was clever, spotting Jay's strengths (delts and quads) he went out and arrived onstage in 2003 with the craziest delts and quads seen in many years. Suddenly Jay's trump cards looked entirely underwhelming.

It's like how old school Jay looks better than 2006 Jay, but you can't blame the guy for doing what it takes to win the O.

It was nothing more than a way to create interest in the sport. No reigning Mr. Olympia had lost a show like this before. The goal was to shake things up, set the stage for a three-way battle [with Cutler and Schlierkamp] at the 2003 Mr. Olympia. There was no way in the world that I should have lost the GNC.
