teenage bodybuilding- WHY?!

seriously, what makes a normal, hormone filled teenager want to enter a bodybuilding competition ?

-Vanity?
-thinking that chicks may dig them? (which I could understand cuz most boys don't know what women "really" want until the hit their 20's)
-exhibitionism?
-faggortry?
-"daddy issues"?
the point is when i was 16 I was jacking it so much had a popeye-esque left forearm.  The last thing on my mind was oiling up for a bunch of schmoes teen bodybuilding judges

this isn't a anti bodybuilding thread- I'm just wondering what is the obvious psychosis that makes a young man want do this.

Do you think that any of the judges look up on stage at a particular bodybuilder and think to themselves, "Oh I like that one he is really hot"?

Or are they just totally objective and treat the matter with the upmost professionalism?

i can imagine its nice to come in the best shape of your life and train hard for it, but just show it on the beach then and try to hook up chicks with your abb physique.

I don't think that's the same thing.  From what I know of it, most of the people in the audience at cheerleading contests are friends or family members of the cheerleaders.  Often they are students at the schools being represented and they are there to cheer for their friends who are performing very difficult and risky maneuvers; there really is a show to see at such contests.

Bodybuilding is decidedly different: the point is to specifically show off your body wearing as little as possible and titillate the audience.  For the most part the audience is not made up of friends and family and is not what anyone would describe as wholesome entertainment.  :-\

I did my first show at 17 and it was cool seing people who called me skinny all my life ask me for advice on how to get in shape

Don't judges sit in the front row... right at the foot of the stage?  I guess this is the angle from which they see the contestants.  :D

Can't understand that as well. As a teenager I was busy all day jacking off, chasing chicks, getting drunk, doin' drugs, having fun and besides graduating school.

The first time I stepped into a gym I was 19. I think it's kinda sad when some kids throw away their whole youth to proceed the "bodybuilding dream" (which turns out to be a nightmare when you start thinking like a grown man :D).
