teenage bodybuilding- WHY?!

Can't understand that as well. As a teenager I was busy all day jacking off, chasing chicks, getting drunk, doin' drugs, having fun and besides graduating school.

The first time I stepped into a gym I was 19. I think it's kinda sad when some kids throw away their whole youth to proceed the "bodybuilding dream" (which turns out to be a nightmare when you start thinking like a grown man ).

seriously, what makes a normal, hormone filled teenager want to enter a bodybuilding competition ?

-Vanity?
-thinking that chicks may dig them? (which I could understand cuz most boys don't know what women "really" want until the hit their 20's)
-exhibitionism?
-faggortry?
-"daddy issues"?
the point is when i was 16 I was jacking it so much had a popeye-esque left forearm.  The last thing on my mind was oiling up for a bunch of schmoes teen bodybuilding judges

this isn't a anti bodybuilding thread- I'm just wondering what is the obvious psychosis that makes a young man want do this.

I have actually seen a couple of cases where competitive bodybuilding probably saved a kid from a life of crime and rec drugs. Doing steroids isn't the best idea at that age but being in the gym "all the time" is probably better than getting into trouble on the streets. Teaches discipline too.
