Well we don't lifting for strenght.

For example:
I started working out at 15 (at around 120 lbs). For maybe 2 years I just lifting for strenght...because at that time I can't imagined that one day I can be look like a bodybuilding competitor.
And when I first time did deadlifts I can lift 245.
Then when I was 17 I could deadlift 530 (in 2000) And I was natural without arms, delts, back. After that period I was just lifting for build muscle and sometimes I tested my strenght too.
My best deadlift set was 4-5 x 550 in 2006 and 2007. So in 6-7 years there isn't a big development in the deadlift...but my back and my whole body totally changed.
If I wanted to be very good at deadlift I believe that now I could do around 750 without any problem. But that's not my goal.
