I tell you what is impacting our economy big time though:

From EmpireState.com:

"New York's pro-business, pro-growth philosophy offers companies job-creating tax cuts. We encourage emerging technology growth with tax incentives for research and development. Today, New York's corporate tax rate is approaching the lowest level since 1970. In four years, the cost of doing business in New York dropped by 33%.

Among the many benefits for businesses that choose New York State:

Lower Business Costs
With workers' compensation costs down more than one-third, New York businesses are saving over $1 billion a year. Workplace safety has also improved. In addition, unemployment insurance costs are down by 33% per employee, saving employers $600 million.

Reduced Regulations
New York has eliminated or streamlined 1,300 regulations. We've also removed bureaucratic red tape from the permitting process so that businesses get faster service statewide.

Tax Credits and Exemptions
We offer capital investment tax credits for manufacturers that can yield up to 5%. Research and development tax credits can yield up to 9%. And in distressed Empire Zones, your tax credits can increase to 19%. Your investment may also result in substantial reductions in real property tax. In addition, New York has no personal property tax and no sales tax on production equipment, R&D property, and fuels and utilities used in manufacturing or R&D.

Flexible Financing
Many types of financial assistance are available through New York State to help ease the cost
of relocating or expanding.
"

That is why they raise your taxes, because they have to cut the corporations'. So, in essence, they cut Big Business' taxes and raise yours, all the while reassuring you that they are doing it to keep your job in the state. Little by little these politicians (like Bloomberg the ASSHOLE) squeeze your balls (not the corporations') a little harder every day because the machine has to be fed. It's an exchange all of us New Yorkers have come to accept: If you want good-paying jobs you have to give these business vulchers tax credits. It ain't working now though. Thanks to BloomSHIT many of the businesses are moving operations to Florida, North Carolina, or even worst, NEW JERSEY! Fucking Jeisy!

What I still fail to understand, and believe me, I've tried over and over, searching google with as many combinations of "illegal immigrant + new york + recession"  I could conjure up, is how illegal immigrants are a negative to the economy, when their labor is much cheaper than other NYers and they are voracious consumers.

For the life of me, I ignore the reason why you dislike these people so much. Are you sure you do not have 1 or 2 Mexicans working for you?

Not true.  Many people from Mass. flee to NH due to oppressive taxation.

The issue is taxes.  One an average home where I am, the property taxes are anywhere from 8,000 and up a year.  I have one client who pays 60k a year in property taxes.

Agreed.  I see this with many of the high income clients that I deal with, and also many young professionals who have good paying jobs and a new family.  Boston does not have a lot of immigrants, but is crazy expensive to live in the city.  Also, MA has a lot of high income suburbs and as you said the property tax alone is insane.  Cohasset is crazy.  That said Boston real estate is hot as ever, and people are lining up to pay 1200 per month for 500 sqf studios  :-X

I work for myself buddy.  I have never collected a welfare check, an unemployment chech, wic stamp, section 8 subsidy, etc.  I have zero sympathy for the welfare mentality that exists in this state, whether it be from the public unions, the illegal aliens, etc.

I have lived in this state my whole life and know all too well what goes on here, while people like yourself in your little 99% self segregated white hamlet of Chappaqua live in a bubble.  Why dont you go down to Brighton Beach and see how good the illegal alien russians are spending your money????

Westchester is the highest taxed nation in the country and that is obviously not enough for you.

BTW - your post is nonsense since the cost of doing business in this state is so high for other taxes that businesses have to pay, whether it be insane property taxes or workers comp costs that are crippling.

And- genius, if you tax businesses more, who do you think suffers?????????????

The consumer with higher costs and the employees with lower salaries.

If you ever ran a business you would understand this.

Illegal aliens are a plague.

They drive down the wages for low skilled LEGAL CITIZENS and allow criminal businesses to evade taxes not only on payroll, but workers comp etc.

These vultures also are on welfare in higher numbers than legal citizens and have anchor babies that we have to pay for.

These bums also file tax returns and get the EITC and even get money back all while we get the tab!

If they want their child to stay here, fine but we shouldn't have to pay for the illegal adult.  Bottom line.  When will the government, especially liberals, keep America full of Americans?  I think more people should be like Daniel Day Lewis in "Gangs of New York".  Anybody can work in fast food, construction, etc but who is going to hire an American worker for minimum wage when the foreman can cut his cost in half using some illegal?

I read that less than 200k people in CA pay the taxes for a state of 38 million.  I'd say the millions of illegals and other welfare leeches are getting a free pass.

It looks like taxpayers are trying to flee the high tax states with high illegal alien populations.

What do New York & California have in common:

1.  Very high taxes.
2.  Large ### of illegal aliens
3.  Large ### of government employees
4.  Very liberal state legislators
5.  Shrinking middle class
6.  Huge concentrations of uber-rich and uber poor.

333386,

You're right.  Middle Class people are getting out of California.  I live in South Orange County.  This state is fucking amazing as far as it's natural beauty and lifestyle.  HOWEVER, it's a fucking socialist hell hole.  People are taxed like crazy.  I got a $1500 bonus.  They took $500 of it right off the top.  LMAO!  Here's a wonderful example of how California works..........

There is a major hospital in San Diego, California.  After 911 happened their NICU (Neonatal intensive care unit) census dropped 60%.  The terrorists attacks forced the southern borders closed for two weeks.  TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!  The hospital laid  off nurses, staff etc.  As soon as they reopened the border the census skyrocketed back up.  And guess what they call all the babies in their ICU??????????  Million dollar babies.  3/4 are fucking illegals from the south and it costs atleast a million dollars for the average stay and birth for an illegal baby. And then of course once the baby is born here it has automatic citizenship and gets all the free healthcare and welfare the state can dole out.

California spent $50 billion dollars on welfare last year!  $50 FUCKING BILLION DOLLARS!  We spent $70 billion on education and guess what?  Only Washington DC spent more and only they are the worse than California as far as public education system.  LA is the second worse in the country and spends more than any other state second to Wahsington DC.

But there are so many fucking hispanics in positions of power, especially in LA.  Villaraigosa the LA mayor is a fucking joke.  Arnold Schwarzenegger is the worst governor this state has probably ever had.  The guy was supposed to cut spending.........spendin g went up like 60% with him in office in the first 4 years or somethign crazy like that.  The head of LA schools is another fucking minority hispanic.  They want their country back you better believe it!!!!!!!!!!!

We've said it before, eliminate welfare in all forms to illegals and they will disappear in great numbers. The current handout system of WIC, public payments, housing, etc to a third world mexican or whatever is like one of us moving to Canada and the gvt kicking down 80K/yr in freebies.

Hospitals in CA are quickly becoming a joke. You go to any ER and there are five dozen illegals there loitering around the waiting room. You know damn well they just give a fake name and fake ID and wait for 6 hours and they get their shit for free. Meanwhile, if you got in for anything legit, expect a 3000K bill and $80 aspirin.

Schools are just free daycare for illegals. Name me one school in Cali that has over 25% hispanic that is even margionally functional as an educational institution.

and yes, Colorado has a lot of illegals too unfortunatly, however you rarely see the completely overrun towns that Cali has all over in the central valley.

I'm telling all you people who think the illegals aren't any big problem... Come out to California for a few weeks. Go walk around in Fresno, Modesto, Irvine, Stockton, Salinas, etc, etc. and see what these animals do to a community.

Hereford,
I lived in Colorado for 7 years.  Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs.  Coloardo is NOWHERE NEAR as bad as Califorina.  Denver is a great city.  There are tons of small towns in Colorado that are nice where you can raise a family quite affordably.  But it's starting to change.  Usually what happens in California echoes across our country.  5-10 years from now our country will be going through what CA is going through now.  Greeley has a huge illegal problem.

Greeley is a third world city. I don't know what the percentage of illegals is but that town is a mess. One of the highest crime rates in the state. The illegals move there to work at the packing houses and production line ag businesses.

However, Greeley bears a striking resemblance to any central valley California town. Overrun with third worlders and a living welfare state in action. Same town as Fresno, Modesto, Salinas, Bakersfield, Stockton, etc...

Rich Californians (aka 'Equity Refugees') are screwing up the state too. Doing their best to Californicate every place in CO that's nice.

The only people who dont think illrgals are a massive problem:

1.  Directly benefit from their cheap and no tax labor
2.  Harbor them
3.  Have family members who are illegal
4.  Dont live near them or see what they do to an area
5.  Are illegal themselves
6.  Hope in the future to benefit off of this chaos.

GWB is a disgrace for not shutting the border after 911 and kicking out visa overstays.  No excuse whatsoever.

This slpper clown on this board lives in a town that is 99% white yuppie upper middle class - upper class scum like the clintons and george soros where reality does not exist.  Chappaqua is literally one of the whitest towns in the nation and they are all limosuine liberal nimby types who would freak out of a black kid what ever in their kids school.

I asked slapper to come down to yonkers/bronx where I live, only thirty minutes away to see the chaos these illegals cause and he ignores it like it doesnt exist.

I have a friend who is a cop in yonkers and he tells me of stories of dope dealers he busted who were deported only to come back two weeks later to sell dope again.  He asked the guy how he got over and the dope dealer said he walked right over the border.

Illegal aliens have murdered more americans since 911 than died in 911 itself.  Whether its dwi or gang killings, illegals are a plaque and disease on this society and these liberal fools want more of them because they know they will vote democrat and become dependant on welfare and thereby be permanent slaves of the democrat plantation.

This slapper dude on this board is one of the blindest fools i have ever run across.

The illegals are lines up for about three miles straight up and down and no one does a damn thing about it.

There are just as many conservatives who have the attitude you just described 333386.  Hereford why do you think liberals are any worse than conservatives.  It's like saying all blacks are a certain way or all asians or all whites.  It's stupid and keeps you from seeing what's really going on.  The George Soros of the World are no different than the Ted Turners or George Bushes.

Come on Hereford you doing exactly what they want you to do.........DIVIDING US AND CONQUERING US!  You're a  psych major you should know this.

How is a union part of the welfare program? I mean, there is a clear cut exchange of labor for cash. Same with illegal aliens. Wouldn't it safe to say that the money these people forgo (wage-wise and when compare with a "legal" gringo) more than covers all the money our society has to return to them in the form of public education or free medical care?

I do have an issue with all these hasidic sons of bitches having 15 kids and me having to finance their sorry arse... but that is a drop in the ocean. The immense majority of immigrants come here to work their asses off.

Quote
Westchester is the highest taxed nation in the country and that is obviously not enough for you.

Well, that's because you look at it that way. I look at it as an exchange between money and peace and quiet/high-quality education for my kids.

Quote

Well, like I said, if you're experience here is not that good then maybe you should consider moving somewhere else. A friend of mine owns a bar in Mt Kisco and complains about the very same things you do. He has 3 illegal aliens working in the back frying them buffalo wings and onion rings and 4 legal aliens serving the clients. He is always complaining about the taxes and the employee costs, etc. Bottom line is he owns a huge house in Pleasantville (on the road coming in from Thornwood,) drives around in a Maserati and travels often. You know, at this point that complaint story I just don't believe it.

Quote
And- genius, if you tax businesses more, who do you think suffers?????????????

I'm not talking about small-medium size businesses, I'm talking about the Chases and Citibanks of this world. The very same companies that get their building built by the tax payers and then they elope to another state and rent the building out.

Quote
The consumer with higher costs and the employees with lower salaries.

I love your story. If the burden of increased costs always falls on the workers and the consumer... what is it exactly that you are complaining about? I mean, your bread is getting buttered, your pockets lined with big Gs... What is your "beef" with? Property taxes?

Quote
If you ever ran a business you would understand this.

Yeah, I know. Make up your mind and decide to do something with your life. Complaining ain't gonna get you far.

Illegals not only cost us more in the overall analysis, they also don't contribute to the overall taxation that sustains our government programs.  Actually, we miss double the taxes. Many/most of them don't pay income tax, state, local, or any of that, and their employer doesn't pay payroll tax on them.  It may decrease the cost for the business owner but the rest of us have an increased tax burden because our gov can't afford all the programs it sponsors.
So, they have many of the same benefits we do, for free.
