How to save boxing.
« on: January 22, 2009, 09:14:58 AM »
Start a federation with MMA gloves and have four 5 min rounds.

If I had 100 million laying around I would!

The only thing thats needed is a dominant heavyweight champion. Someone thats exciting to watch. Not like the Klitchkos. America has no interest in them.

Boxing it toooo long. Now when people are used to short mma fights. They want action right away, I think mma gloves and about 4 rounds would to that so they dont kill each other.

With only 4 rounds there would be any time to hug each other and rest every round so the "judge" have to break them up time and time and time again.

Sometimes in a mma match the just keep it standing, and it great to watch only that also :)

Boxing is dying big time.

Also did i hear that someone is promoting a world heavyweight MMA and Boxing match on the same bill. That would bring in millions.

They need to add back the 13th, 14th and 15th rounds back to the championship fights. And don't give me the "injury" bullshit. If these guys didn't want brain damage then they shouldn't have become boxers.

Boxing needs more knockouts and rules against holding. Those two changes and more rounds will change the sport overnight.

The heavyweight division is the worst it's ever been. Hasim Rachman just got another title shot. Holyfeild just got another title shot. James Toney is a heavyweight contender. The most glorified division in boxing is a joke and has been ever since Lennox Lewis retired.

Agreed the heavyweights have sucked for years now.   I like watchin Pacquiao and Hatton and Mayweather before he retired, but we're missing a great heavyweight division.  The Klitchkos are fading fast, but every up and coming big man turns to MMA now.   I did like to watch Lennox, but that time is also over with.   Need another '80s Tyson type run in the heavies.

In order for boxing to survive the sport needs to dump the alphabet belts and get the best fighters in the world to actually fight each other; how FM can duck Magarito, Pacquioa and Cotto and proclaim he's the best fighter of all time is beyond ludicrous.

That said I think Boxing needs Floyd because he makes the sport interesting, good to have a villain.

Why would I be pissing myself?  It's a dead sport that nobody cares about.

ofcourse it is, thats why a big goon like Brock Lesnar with only 3 professional fights to his credit can become heavyweight champion  ::) LOL
A boxer like Roy Jones is 10 times the athlete than someone like a Chuck Liddel; fighters who went to MMA are just normal guys you see in the street who couldnt cut it in boxing.
