How can anyone encourage a "sport" where perfectly normal females are fucking themselves up to the extent they're doing?

And that's your business why again? It's called bodybuilding for a reason. Again, it's their "life choice" to make. If I am asked, I will talk them out of it: there's no money, no respect, and society and small minded kids will take cheap shots at you, and there will be possible long term effects of all the dieting, drugs, etc, etc. BUT, I pass no judgments on them for it if that's what makes them happy.

With male bodybuilding it is often completely reversible if they chose to.

And you know that how again? No, plenty of it is not reversible. Pro NFL players are often literally crippled by the time they are 50. They suffer serious long term "side effects" from the beating their body took. That's the choices they made. High level sports is not about health and it never has been and never will be.

Some of the biggest IFBB pro's that has been around actually look normal when off the gas. Take Levrone as an example.

Good for him. Yes, he looks like a regular guy now, but I know many guys with long term issues. Yes, it takes less a toll on the men then the women, but you don't know half the stuff that happens I assure you.

But male hormones do not do pretty things to a woman. And it's permanent.

Some of it is, some is not. Yes, I tell them all, this is not the path to what society views as what women should be doing, but it's none of your or my business to pass such judgments on either.

Epic choosing an irrelevant sport. NFL players are elite sportsmen, they have to perform in physically tough challenges. Bodybuilders train for muscle mass, which is an entirely different thing. Usually what bodybuilders have to endure is brutal farts, an occasional torn muscle (which they recover from to function again 99% of the time) and sometimes internal damage on the liver etc. But that's up to their stupidity, ala Tom Prince and advil for example. And this is just mentioning the top MALE IFBB pros.

Female BB's fuck themselves up for life, esthetically speaking.

Point is, men can become relatively successful in bodybuilding and get away with it. Women don't.

When taking multiple pictures there will always be a few bad shots.  We each have hundreds of pics of ourselves but only post a few on here, if any at all.  Surely if a photographer took tens of pictures of one of us and posted them all others could rip apart most of them, just as you can rip apart even certain pics of Mr. O winners if they're taken at the wrong angle at the wrong time with distended guts or the illusion of small arms or narrow shoulders, etc.  So if you can dig up a few "bad" pics of RIP it doesn't mean she's not attractive.

Also, she's hardly bodybuilding to impress men.  You do realize that most women prefer slim, lean guys who aren't more than 150-160 lbs.  Does that mean that is the physique we should all be aspiring to?  If a 150 lb pussy-wrecking machine were to post his physique on getbig he'd get flamed even worse.

That said, I do find RIP attractive in both the offseason and pre-contest.

And I agree with Sweetmuscles that haters should be at least willing to post their own pic along with who they are banging :)

What you are saying is true BB, although you must also bear in mind that the ultimate aim of bodybuilding is to showcase your body and be judged on the basis of your looks. That's where female bodybuilding fails to appeal. For sure, there are a few people who like it or even worship it, but they constitute a (ridiculed) minority in an already small cult that comprises the fans and participants of competitive bodybuilding.

Rip looks great off season and nowhere near as bad as some of the extreme cases that compete in contests like the Ms Olympia. But Rip and those others ARE posting their pics here to show what they have achieved to get feedback. Does Rip and any other female bodybuilder do it for the guys or someone else in particular? Of course not. But are they wanting feedback, especially appreciation and praise when they post their pics? Absolutely. And that's why the guys who express their disapproval aren't doing something uncalled for.

Granted everyone gets torn to shreds here, especially female bodybuilders who probably receive the harshest criticisms of the lot. But what else do they expect when they post pics in a discussion forum that's oriented around bodybuilding, which is not black and white like a running race but subjective and judgmental by it's nature?

Male bodybuilding is also unappealing to the majority of women, as is female bodybuilding to the majority of men.  Male bodybuilders, especially pros, would get similarly harsh criticism if they posted their pics on a female (non-bodybuilding) forum.

I agree that by posting their pics here they are open to negative criticism, but I just find it funny when the criticism turns to comparing their physiques to slim female model figures, because the same guys who are doing that would not compare male bodybuilders to slim-male models who most women would find more attractive.

I see what you are saying but as you know, even among the limited number of fans & followers of bodybuilding, female bodybuilding has very little support and fanfare. That's because there is a crucial difference between male and female bodybuilding. Male bodybuilding is 'nothing more' than taking a male's body / muscularity to an extreme level. It's shocking and not very appealing to the average person in the street due to how far and above the physique is compared to an average Joe.

But female bodybuilding on top of that, also causes changes in females that make them seem like they are transcending their gender (which in some cases they are) and getting to a stage where they have a lot of masculine characteristics, both mental and physical. A guy having a 21" arm is a monster but he's still a guy. But a female who has 19" arms onstage has attributes like deep voice, facial hair, enlarged clit, facial morphing that makes the overall appearance seem closer to a male than a female (not saying that about Rip, who is one of the few exceptions).

The end result is something very, very few people like or can even accept. It's the morphing of the basic gender identity that puts everyone off. Again, I'm not referring to Rip, who still looks feminine albeit far from what she looks like when she is soft and curvy in the off season. I guess what I'm trying to say is that to the followers of bodybuilding, a male bodybuilder's physique indicates alpha status (in the physical sense only) while a female bodybuilder's looks give rise to ridicule and disgust cause there's not much female left in a lot of them at the top levels.

Totally agree with you there, good thing RIP is not close to the level described.

Male bodybuilding enforces the stereotype of a muscular and masculine man.

A woman getting boobjob does it in order to strenghten her feminity.

A woman injecting male hormones to look like a halfassed worn down muscular freak is... disturbing to say the least.

WOW, way to much pscyho-analysis going on in this thread.

Look, I have trained in a gym pretty much my whole life, and I love it.  I started competing to challenge myself.  I like it.  It's fun.  That's really about it.

Dave, can you please clear up this issue that bigmc has kindly brought to our attention? Are the squats parallel or quarter reps as you claim both.
