Yet they spend the majority of their time killing their own people. Most of the people fighting and causing the most trouble are Muslims from other countries. Look dont get me wrong, we should not even be over there.  Its all about protecting Saudi oil for our cheap consumption because we dont have the balls to drill and procur our own.

If it were me, on 9/12/2001 I would have told Saudi Arabia to fuck off and that we are going to drill our own oil and make do with our allies Canada and Mexico for oil.  I would then have told Mexico that we will start shipping back illegals by the thousands a day unless they provide us with cheap oil.

Or we could learn to trade with other countries in a civilized way.     The problem is America has nothing other countries need or want nowadays.  we've done away with our manufacturing.  Hence why for the past 50 years we've had to secure cheap oil by force.  Instead of being a consuming economy we need to get back to a producing economy.  Americans need to start cleaning their own fucking toilets and mowing their own lawns instead of relying on cheap labor.  But corporations and stockholders are going to have to deal with making less money and profit as well.  See to get back to where we need to Americans are going to have to sacrifice.  As this economy crisis is showing us our desire for consumption is unsustainable.  Everyone is going to have to give up something.

what would work better to get them (the people first and eventually the government) to see the benefits of our society (even given our presently fucked up state of affairs) and give up their "stupid ways"

He told them he doesn't want to wipe them off the map, but it's time they STFU and cut the nuke program.

They ARE someone we need to deal with.  15%+ of the world's oil comes outta that nation.  They have 70 million people right next door to iraq AND afghanistan.  If they decided to mine the waters one day, ONE HALF of the World Oil Supply would be frozen, with no means of delivery.

You have to deal with them, until of course, we find something besides gas to run our cars.  They're talking tough because Obama just told them to drop the nukes or get fvcked up.

Just shows that Iran's administration just hates American and Western society regardless of the president.  If they were at all reasonable, they would make a better effort as Obama reached out a hand in improving relations.  They just hate.  We cannot try to be friendly with them and need to keep an extremely close eye on their terrorist supporting government.  The only hope is that the younger Iranians overthrow their leaders eventually.

They need to keep stirring up hatred for the West to cover up their problems. Iran has some of the worst inflation, unemployment and economic problems in the world right now, and they were around before the world economy collapsed. Unemployment was around 10.5% in 2008 and was at 14-15% for a while before that. Ahmadinejad's party lost a lot of seats in local elections last year and they've since resorted to fear tactics and arrests for the upcoming elections.
