We have quite a collection and almost all of them are in new condition.  Some of them close to 50 years old

Who is 'we' Onlyme?

My friend in Hawaii has them and wants me to sell them and we split the money.  He has several more I think.  I will find out.

Hey Keith, do you have the October 1977 Muscular development issue with Roy Hilligen on the cover. They did a story on me, when I was 14 years old and have pics of me doing deadlifts and clean and jerk. The story is called, "Like father, like son" since my dad was a well known champion golfer back in the 40's and 50's who also was the first golfer to enter weightlifting contests at the same time. While playing on the tour, weighing about 175, he did a 505 deadlift, 420 pound squat and 300 pound clean and jerk.

With eBay that's very hard to tell. It's always a hit or miss. I have bid and won a magazine at a pretty decent price, but later down the road have seen that very same magazine cost an arm and a leg during a bidding war.

That's what I read when I was in my teens. I still have a few. My dad knew Joe Weider well and in 78 when I was about 16, I got to stay with Mike mentzer and his girlfriend Cathy for a few days and train with him. He was very cool then, before he flipped and got on amphetamines. I also got to see the 77 through 79 Olympia's. I also met Arnold several times and he called our house trying to get my dad to invest in some projects of his..one which was supposed to be a documentary on weight training in prisons. Now at the 77 and 78 Olympia, Arnold let me go backstage and hang out. But in 79, after my dad wouldn't invest with him, Arnold pretended he didn't know me and threw me out of the backstage area. True story. For about a year after that, i would call Arnold at his office and pretend I was Joe Weider and Clint Eastwood(I'm a good mimic) and he never could figure out who it was. He'd get really pissed off!

Good story chemist.

I would rank the mags then as Muscle followed by Iron Man followed by Lurie's mags. York's MD was more conservative, reflecting Hoffman's preference for lifting over BB. At York there's a nice little museum there with plenty of York mags in plastic going back to the 30s at least.

Would love to see someone here with a good collection put many of the articles online over time. Someone with true schmoe devotion and determination, who doesn't lift and has the time.. :D

I was about 14 and my mates sister started dating a bodybuilder, and when i was over at his house she brings this guy in and he had a copy of MB with him.Right then i just knew thats what i want to look like.A few days later he bought 4-5 other issues of MB over to my house and gave them to me.The first one i ever saw was this one with Mentzer on the cover. But still to this day my favourite is the oct 77 with Franco on the cover. The pics in there of the Mentzers curling,Ferrignos forearms,Robby training, and those 4 pics of Mentzers legs.

Franco's your favorite and you really like the cover or because of the articles inside?
