What if this were published by The Times right after the Iraq war started? Would rightwingers have no problem? I can't believe how many people on other sites are defending the original cartoon so I thought I would pose it in a way that the same excuses could be used by the artist. He could just the same say he meant congress or the pro war movement in general. How would this have gone down?

ok, you guys. First I want to see where they depicted Condi in a way to illustrate her death. I never saw anything like that and if I had I would have been against it just as I was against the film about the assassination of bush. I wouldn't have gone for that. Tony, I don't care about cartoons that mock or make fun of Obama or Bush or Clinton etc... That's not the point and you know it. I'm quite consistent and I posted the thread showing that I was against the assassination movie. I think you guys might have missed a major issue with the cartoon in the focus on race. I know people would have went apeshit over the above revised cartoon and would have said Bush was the subject.

On a side note, comparing Bush to a monkey isn't racist. Comparing a black man to a monkey is a long tradition for racists. 2nd, Bush looks chimpish in appearance and facial expressions so it's a natural characture of him. Think intent. The cartoonist has been around politics long enough to know what's up.

I asked you you guys to get on the same page and you both still focus on the race angle which has been covered. When you do that, you're using a red herring.
