Glute Ham Raises and Calves

Last week i did a few sets of glute ham raises in my leg workout.

They killed my hams but also really hit my calves...calves are still sore today.

Is it possible to get good calf growth from glute ham raises?

If you have the pad right on your heel, then you may feel it more in your calves. Have the pad above the heel on the lower part of your calf (achilles).

Also try them with more plantar-flexion (toes pointing towards ground), makes them harder but takes the calves out of it a bit. If you do lying leg curls try this and you won't be able to move as much weight, but it'll hit your hams harder.
No doubt about it...

Couple of quick observations as I fall asleep  :-\

While the calf does assist in the movement, it should not be as dominant as it sounds it was  :-\  Gonna take some tweaking on form.  Secondly, if your calves are still sore, sounds like you don't work them much whcih makes me wonder why you're wondering about growth

Most likely got sore calves because you weren`t used to the exercise,or the footpad was set at the wrong place.
