I'm not one for doing it... i see ppl hitting their kids and i want to spit.  however, there is a time and place for it.  When my son was 12-15 months, he loved to stick his fingers in electrical sockets.  I would quickly slap his hand down.  no pain, just a small swat.  he didn't understand the words I said back then - no concept of how electricity would hurt him.  Too young for time out.  no other way to prevent it.

I only had to do it 3-4 timess and to this day he avoids sockets.  more of a sting with the slap, you know?  Today at almost 3 years old, I find time out is fine for most things.

if by "children" you mean that group of black kids that keep trying to steal from you then yes it's perfectly fine to hit and hit with extreme prejudice

haha Deicide, maybe they threaten to move back to Turkey from the western country they moved to....which they moved to get away from turkey....but it's such a great place....

I got 5 real spankings with a belt on my ass in my life.
i remember all 5.
I went into the street, punched a much smaller child, threw a baseball at a bus, and two other things that were just above and beyond "spend 10 minutes in time-out".

Nothing wrong with that.  A 4-year old cannot understand what a bumper does to a kid at 45 mph.  But they can understand what a belt on the ass feels like.  No street.

I think you don't need to hit them. If 10 minute time out is not enough, then 20 minutes, if that is not enough then more. I have worked with disabled kids and we never hit them and all went just fine.
