Really, well...he'll be fine dude....he's well trained. He'll be ok....don't worry. He's been doing that job for a long time.

I had a chance or a shot to head out at the end of this month but I had to much crap to do...then it was June, at a pretty good Post in Colorado..but I have some other things to do before I head out so I took the Bliss slot. I did manage to sell my house today, so its working out so far. If we can do anything for ur brother, don't hesitate to ask.

I know I came into this thread a little late, but that's funny.

I dont go anywhere to shop with race in mind, only what is convenient.

This is all within literally 500 feet of my office:

I get my coffee in the morning at DD and there are all Indians working there.

I get pizza across the street from my office and the place is owned by an Albanian guy.

The beverage place is owned by an Irish guy off the boat.

The food store and the cleaners are both owned by Koreans.

The Chinese food place is owned by Chinese people.

________________________ ________________________ _______

I shop at all of these places because they are near where I live and work, not because they are of a particular race

When you do your food shopping for your home do you deliberately go to Hispanic, Black, Asian areas to do so?
When you shop for clothing do you deliberately go to Hispanic, Black or Asian neighborhoods?
When you buy furniture do you deliberately go to Hispanic, Black or Asian neighborhoods?
The answer to all of these is NO you go to white areas (which is the area in which you live), because that is what YOU prefer...not because it is convenient and not because of time constraints of a job.

In america many people leave their neighborhoods to go to white areas to shop for these necessities because the stores in white areas are greater i number and have greater selection. So support of business within certain communities suffers as the people venture elsewhere to get what they need. This woman who decided to shop "BLACK" is doing so to support her own and while she and others may have to look harder or longer to find what she wants... in the end her community will be better off for it.

Yeah, that is a racist idea.  We shouldn't promote businesses owned by a certain ethnic background...just make sure people have as equal opportunities as possible to thrive and be as successful as possible.

Even in 2009, government is still awarding contracts preferentially to minority owned companies, which is not right.  Affirmative action policies need to be put to sleep now.  Let the hardest working and the best people rise, whatever their backround, gender or race.  Thats what this country is supposed to be about.

Schools have to get equal funding by the local and state governments, if not, that is truely unfair.  I'd be suprised if that commonly still happens since most of the people in education are pretty liberal and would fight against that type of thing.

Government contracts are LARGELY given to white owned businesses in america..some small contracts are sparingly given to Black and or Hispanic companies to pacify. There was a case a few years ago with a white owned construction company that took a Black owned construction company to court over FAVORITISM. The Black company was awarded a city contract (I believe it was in Phoenix Arizona) because the Black company bid the lowest. The white company complained claiming affirmative action unfairness which the Black company and the city said this had nothing to do with affirmative action, but was based solely on the lowest bidder. The white owned construction company carried the case to one court after another and tied the whole city up with nonsensical claims. The matter was eventually settled but the decision was not made public, but it only goes to show that racism is still alive and well in america and only FOOLS think that things are level, honest or fair. America was grounded in racism by whites and remains so to this day...

No samson.  There is a legal preference for the government to award minority owned companies contracts.  This clearly falls under the gov's affirmative action policies.  If your talking total #s, I'm sure more contracts go to non-minorities based upon #s alone but in a bidding situation, preference automatically goes to minorities (perhaps unless the contract quotas are met).  I know this for certain as it has affected several medical groups and occupational health groups hired by the government.

Is that true?  I thought they only required companies that have contracts to be in line with affirmative action policies.  I don't think it gives preference to ownership unless I'm wrong.?

Personally, I dont have a problem with AA, but not when they get to be the lowest bidder with a 10% margin.  That's not cool at all.

I do have a problem with it. Its like spoon feeding minorities. For minorities to be looked at as equals we need to be treated as equals. People dont understand that slavery was only 150 years ago, (and whites had 400 years to establish their systems, and got mega rich because they had no labor overhead) and it was legislation passed for us to legaly be looked at as equals. From 64 till now, Minorities have come a long way in a short time. I really think AA is a crutch.
