mh,i'm not a big fan of the volkswagen-gruppe,porsche and lambos are cool but vw and audi are not my thing

plus japanese cars actually aim at today's and tomorrow's needs, not the same old shit like the german cars.

I had a rental BMW 3 a few weeks ago, that one made an astonishing 5,6l on 100km (diesel).  :o :o

German cars are great, and IMO, some of the finest automobiles on the planet, but reliability of their vehicles have got to step up. Plus it's not like german cars are cheap either. Maintenance and parts are VERY expensive and it's not like any average joe can work on them like american and japanese cars. If they want to rule the US market, looks like VW has to do it because BMW, MBZ, Porsche, are too expensive to the average buyer. Even so, VW's are known for their piss poor reliability and expensive to maintain then an honda or a toyota.
