SEATTLE - An open tryout for the upcoming 10th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" today netted 250 UFC hopefuls, including three former NFL players.

Spike TV officials today announced the turnout for the casting session, which took place at the Marriott Seattle Airport Hotel in Seattle.

Among those trying out were former Tampa Bay Bucaneer Marcus Jones (4-2), Indianapolis Colt Rex Richards (8-1) and Green Bay Packer Herbert Goodman (9-6).

Today's session was open to middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight fighters. Jones and Richards compete as heavyweights, and Goodman recently defeated former UFC fighter Jordan Radev as a light heavyweight.

No coaches have been announced for "TUF 10," which begins taping this summer with a September debut date on Spike TV.

MMAjunkie.com was on scene for today's tryouts, and we'll have a complete recap of the day's festivities posted on Tuesday.

thats a huge number for tryouts, i remember being at renzos afew years back and they where doing tryouts for tuf.it was pretty cool, i didnt bother trying out cause i would have got destroyed by these young guns, lol.

i just wish the ultimate fighter came out when i was a teenager or so cause atleast then i would have had time on my side and age makes a huge difference in this game, a 20 year old dude is gonna naturally have better cardio then a 44 year old like myself providing we both trained mma.

i remember it was crazy during the tryouts back then at renzos, dana was there along with matt serra and afew other top guys, guys where giving it thier all to impress dana and rightfully so. doing good on that show and impressing dana could change a mans life in the mma world. thanks again sincity

I don't know if I would take it that far. Brock has some great training opportunites and lets not forget his college resume either. Dude is not a big joke! Most of these guys have those wins under their belt from fighting at small house shows. You put a giant Ex-NFL football player in there against Joe Smith who is just starting his career 7-10 times I got my money on the Ex-NFL vet.

Why, well we all know EX NFL sales tickets, most will pay to watch the guy fight, hell they paid to watch him play football. Now as a promoter of a small town show, you going to put him against your best or hype him a few fights? I just say this cause that's what they did with an ex NHL player here locally who was playing for our local team. They hyped him all up and pit him against cans for a while, but he did end up taking the belt, the champ underestimated him and didnt jump on him when he  knocked him down, but thats a whole new story!

I say Brock will crush these guys if they threw him in there.

very true sincity, the smaller shows are great and serve as a stepping stone for the few fighters that have what it takes to take the next step to the ufc or wec, but ive seen guys who dominated at the smaller shows only to get to the ufc and get smashed and where outclassed big time. although they did get better and some turned out to be awesome but they all had to put in thier time and pay thier dues, a guy like brock is a rare thing, i believe the brock thing was danas idea to get the wwe wrestling fans on board using brock as the ticket. brock got pushed into the title picture way to soon imo, i know everyone will say what are ya talkin about, hes the champ!his fight with mir was a perfect example, rookie mistake that prolly wouldnt have happened to brock if he would have had more submission grappling and that whole fight could have turned out different. when your fighting at that level your game has to be air tight

What belt are you? Have long have you been training BJJ?

i started out doing judo after i left school and didnt wrestle anymore, i never was a great wrestler and never even came close to making it to a state or regional match or anything close. i wrestled in high school and i lost more matches then i won, lol. some years after that i took up judo and worked up to a green belt in competition, then i started to get really interested in the ground game after watching royce and all the other awesome bjj guys. judo training did teach us the ground techniques but it was only about 25 minutes of it compared to the other hour and 35 minutes of practicing throws, so i left that school and joined a shootfighting school in north jersey where i was living, back in the early 90,s they didnt have bjj schools on every corner like they do know, lol. the shootfighting school was very practical cause it was 10 minutes from my home and it was like 75$ a month for unlimited training 24/7, that was affordable and i didnt even have to really spend much in gas at all. these days your lucky to find a decent school to train at 2 days a week at i hour a class for that money, the shootfighting school was great cause we had a renzo bjj brown belt guy come down 3 times a week to teach us bjj, we had a older man from thialand teaching us thia boxing a few days a week also as well as some all american wrestlers and 2 guys that had some pro boxing matches under thier belts. on top of that we had a legit guy who taught bruce lee,s jkd style and a kenpo karate guy and the head instructor, ufc ref dan mirigliotta taught escrima(stick fighting) also for those wanting to learn some of the phillipine arts. it was a great place to train cause you werent limited to just bjj or boxing for instance, you could walk in the school and it was a huge place, it was a giant cookie warehouse before it became the shootfighting school, youd see guys in one corner going over wrestling takedowns, in the other corner of the mats you had guys practicing thia fighting, the other corner guys going over bjj techniques and rolling, we also had a regulation size pride ring in the back of the gym where we would train in to get the feel of actually being in a real ring compared to being on the mats on the floor. dan gave afew of us the keys and we would hang out in the gym till 1 or 2 in the morning sometime. unfortunatly the gym closed down cause dans long hours at his job all day and then coming to teach at night was kicking his ass after 10 years, also his little boys where growing up and wanted to spend time with thier dad,dan was working 10 hr days then coming to the school to teach for another 2 hours and then he lived more then an hour away from the gym on top of that. dan tried hiring a guy to run the school for him so he could be home afew nights aweek with his family but the guy wasnt reliable and he finally closed down, that sucked for me cause that was my second home. i ended up going to renzo,s in ny cause my buddy who i worked security with in a queens nightclub brought me with him one day to train and  i was hooked, i mean you had rolles gracie jr there, igor gracie, renzo was there every night which was cool, you had abu dhabi guys there like jamal paterson, alot of grapplers quest and naga champions also as well as a bunch of mma guys that where making names for themselves. the level of talent was like nothing ive ever experianced, and mostly everyone there was laid back and cool, renzo wouldnt tolerate no bullshit bullying by the more experianced guys, if renzo sees you hurting one of his newer students who are not experianced youll get called out by renzo himself to roll alittle, lol, renzo would give the bully a taste of his own medicine and then tell him straight up, you do that again to my newer guys your gone, that usually did the trick. i got my blue belt from renzo after 16 or 17 months traing there twice a week, i couldnt afford to go any more days cause 2 days was costing me 225 dollars a month after i added the train cost on which was 85 dollars extra a month. i moved down south alittle while ago and im still searching for the right school to train at. if you read all that thank you, once i get typing sometimes i just cant stop ;)
