Why am I not able to do more than 2 reps after training once a week seriously (a part form beign an old fart)?

What do you mean after training? You finish your workout, then do some chins?

why not stick to only sets of chins on backtraining. i only do chins nowadays to keep up my back. the best excersize for back.

Well if you can only do 2 reps, commonsense would tell you to add a few more exercises to your back workout.....

No, sorry again my brutal english: I ment I only do chins for back and it's several weeks that I specialized on it but never got 2 reps, until now only 1 1/2

Like i said, do some other exercises (deads, rows) and do some chins too. It takes time to get your chins up.

How much do you weigh (kg)?

I'm 85 kgs (187 lbs) and I have 15.7 arms (best bodypart).

I do Deadlifts x20 reps on thuesdays (5 sets to rise the GH: I'm an old natural fart, 35y.o.).

For chins after a couple of sets I do forced and then negatives.

Total number of sets 5

No, Mars, on Deadlifts I never had problems (even did 352 lbs x 1, but 10 years ago).

do 3 sets 3 times a week, do not max out on reps so right now you may be doing only 3 x 1, it is ok.  try to bump it up to 3 x 2, eventually to 3 x 5.

Try narrower chins till you get stronger, then widen grip gradually.

or have someone duct tape your hands to the bar and tell him not to take it off until you get 20 reps...or 15 reps, whatever the goal. Of course find someone you trust, because if he pulls a dick move and leaves you there, it'll be funny as hell but very embarrassing. But I like lovemonkey's advice too.

Put a bench under the chinning bar. Grab hold, jump up and hold your ass up there. When you start shaking uncontrollably, maybe you can think about coming back down.


You have a weak back, weak arms (and forearms) and your belly might be your biggest bodypart.


If your gym has a counter-balance chin/dip machine, you may wanna use it.

The answer is grow some muscles then try again. I recommended specifically growing muscles in your back and biceps. The best way to do this is through sunlight and plenty of water.
