Author Topic: dykstra a fraud (Read 4305 times)

As far as Dykstra, I didn't know he was a fraud. I recall hearing him with Mike Francesa a couple of years ago more or less bragging about his wealth and his car wash businesses. Too bad he's a phony, I liked him when he played in New York.

I just take exception to stereotyping all baseball players as something they're not.

Amidst all of your whining, you forgot about the fact that hitting a 99 mph fastball is the single hardest act to perform in all of sports.

No it's not.

Breaking a world record in any track and field event is much more difficult. Only one other person in history has set the record. 99mph fastballs are hit every day in the majors. Even by some mediocre players.

To further illustrate my point, I could actually make contact with a 99mph fastball by pure chance. However, I can't "by chance" run a sub 10 second 100m.

not to belabor the point but hitting a round ball with a round bat squarely when it's thrown up to 105 mph should be the quote, when it's done like this a mark mcquire can hit a randy johnson fastball 600 ft which he did, i doubt you or me or anyone else on here including udonis bolt could do that. and that's a fact jack....

Well, all he said was hitting it....not hitting it 600 ft. I mean, I'm more than capable, but the rest of you guys would struggle...

i've hit a 90 mile an hour fastball fairly easy but when you add movement to it and mix it in with curves sliders slurves knuckleballs forkballs changeups thats were the trick to hitting really comes in. baseball is the only sport where you can be unsuccessful 70% of the time and still be a mojor star.

the sad part is that only the best of the best from an area get a shot to even make the minors, when i was young the best player in my area around allentown was dave schneck, the guy could really rake and he was a pitcher as well. check out his major and minor league career on baseballreference.com to see how really hard it is to make it.
