Backlash from whom? Viewers turning off their tv sets? A "4-box" debate that would feature 3 different people screaming at and talking over anything a Frum or Kristoff would say? Scathing editorials within Creators Syndicate and other Opinion columns?
No, I would not support a petition to discourage what anyone had to say, unless of course it directly orders violence towards an individual or groups. If someone were to get hurt or killed over what someone said in an opinion piece, than so be it. We live in a Free Society. Can't have it both ways. Open speech, or restricted speech. There's no cherry pickin' here. Bill Maher expressedly stated the above, but then said the opposite about those that turned up for the Tea Party rallies, stating that such activity was dangerous and perhaps should be looked at. People may chime they love free speech, but are quick to quell any dissenting opinions that don't cross their own ideologies.
Besides, Neocons are the like the funny, alcoholic uncle that shows up on holidays. Sure, he's loud and stupid, but he's gonna be invited back again and again 'cause he's a well-liked guy.
